Congratulations !!
There's more interest then ever, you can say that it's a virtual tie.
Based on past experience with these polls, it appears that at least 45-50 individuals would attend either location.
Very nice ! :headbang:
A Colorado Gathering is a must. Our West of the Mississippi members deserve to experience what many on the East have experienced in the past. Myself and a few East Coast members are also planning to be in attendance. I will also bring a spare rear wheel with a snow tire on it just in case :duck:
A centralized East of the Mississippi location needs to be zeroed in, Cherokee NC area is a "tentative" East of the Mississippi candidate. Located at the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway and not far from other nice roads with lots of things to do for those that want to attend and also shop or gamble (Harrahs Casino) "ccsmiley"
I will be creating 2 separate threads and tying in any past threads for attendance and logistic purposes.
At this moment ...considering the creation of a commemorative shirt with a nice design and the cities printed across the bottom or left chest. (Daytona Beach FL, Franklin TN, Pigeon Forge TN, Montrose CO, Cherokee NC etc etc etc).
Everyone have a great weekend, let's ride.
Phantom. Sounds like a great plan.
CHEROKEE!!! Start the list, I'm in.
I'm in for west of the Mississippi!
So we are having two Rally’s for 2018?
I’m up for both. I think. If it’s actually happening.
Am looking forward to the west of the mighty Mississippi Rally. :icon_cool:
+ 1 I am in possible both depending on dates
So will dates and hotels follow? Thanks Tony, Steve and Rick for all you do!
Waiting on 2 hotel quotes for the Cherokee area to come in. I already have 3 others.
Just like Colorado, the Labor Day weekend rates are substantially higher in the Cherokee area. Harrahs Casino has something HUGE going on and has purchased 400 rooms at non Harrahs hotels in the area. Harrahs Casino Friday, Saturday and Sunday rates are $499 per night on that Labor Day weekend.
The rates are much less the week prior, however this would force both events to occur on the same dates.
Please be patient, just trying to make it affordable for as many as possible and logistically appealing for those that want to attend both events.
I have discovered that in the last 2 years Hotel rates have gone up. Microtel Franklin NC wants $159 each night for Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Trying to get $75-$80 for Wednesday and Thursday, $95-$105 for Friday and Saturday
Final details to follow in the next 24-48 hours.
Tentative for the Cherokee NC location. The hotel is situated in a great location with restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy and gas stations around it.
Wednesday August 29th and Thursday August 30th, the room rates are $59 plus 13.9% tax = $67.20
Friday August 31st and Saturday September 1st, the room rates are $89 plus 13.9% tax = $101.37
The 4 nights combined ---> $296 plus 41.10 tax = $337.10
As stated earlier, final details for both the Colorado and North Carolina events will be posted this weekend
Talking to the wife now but I am looking at going to both. Thought about going to the Wing Ding in Tennessee but all I would do is spend money on things that I don't need. With going to both F6B locations, I would just ride and drink beer. My lifelong dream coming true. Also spoke with Tony today and I agree with all that he has planned! Sounds like it would be a great 2 weeks. Just glad that I'm retired and would have the time free.
..afterwards of course. :shhh:
I remember at the last Rally when Steve enlisted me for a beer run, in the late afternoon when finished riding (gas station next door was the resupply point). He exclaimed “your drunk” whilst I smiled and replied “what?” :icon_mrgreen:
Will be a good time at both Rally’s... I plan to make both of them. Life is short. Really short...
Hey Bill... I’m out of hootch. how’s yer supply from Pidgeon Ford holding up? :icon_wink:
Will, that is long gone. When I went to the Wings Over The Smokies held in Waynesville, I rode back to Pigeon Forge to get my wife 4 more bottles!Quote:

Just cracked open my last bottle of Blackberry....

We will be posting separate threads in the next couple of days, however for those that want to go ahead and book their Cherokee North Carolina Hotel... here are the details
The hotel is situated in a great location with restaurants, grocery store, pharmacy and gas stations around it.
Microtel Cherokee , call 828-497-7800 ask for Emily
You must mention that you are with the "F6B Riders Group" to receive this group rate.
Wednesday August 29th and Thursday August 30th, the room rates are $59 plus 13.9% tax = $67.20
Friday August 31st and Saturday September 1st, the room rates are $89 plus 13.9% tax = $101.37
The 4 nights combined ---> $296 plus 41.10 tax = $337.10
The group rate will be locked until July 1st, after July first you will be paying much higher rates (if there are rooms available). It is Labor Day weekend and our Goal is to be heading Home Sunday morning
Colorado details to follow in the next couple of days, we are ironing out a few details .... we may have found a better hotel with a larger parking area for our tent and place for those trailering ... ample parking for pick-up trucks with trailers. This possible new location has great reviews, better price and convenient as well. Ranks in the top 3 hotels in Montrose.
Thank you for your efforts Tony, and anyone else who may have been involved thus far. It's going to be an exciting rally year in 2018 for sure!
LA......
Got a while to plan the Montrose trip but let's all hook up next Aug for the beautiful ride up 287 to Amarillo. Hoping JM from Austin and a few others will gather up here in Dallas for the Montrose gathering. The Angel Fire, Red River, Questa loop would be a nice detour getting up there.
Thanks for all the hard work guys:yes: ! Hope to make one of them.
Just scheduled my vacation so I hope to make the trip and meet some of you guys.
:icon_cool:
In negotiations with a large hotel that has plenty of indoor AIR CONDITIONED gathering space (a banquet room where we can all gather in after our rides).
I have been told that AUGUST is still considered "PEAK season". Rates for a decent hotel are at a premium ($110 - $130).
I have also been told that a Tent in the evening is NOT a good idea ... TOO HOT, The hotel lady has told me that the temperature in the late afternoon can still be between 90 to 100 degrees. (75-85 in the mountains while riding)
I am trying to negotiate rooms for around $80-$90 with a free banquet room.
Location is also convenient to reach ....
GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO :icon_wink::yes:
Great rides to the North, East and South
Several restaurants and conveniences nearby.
Further details to follow.
can i still attend since i traded my black 2013 F6 for a pearl white 2008 OldWing?
:stirthepot: :lastweek:
So Tony, looking at the dates in this thread so far... next year is going to be a back to back Rally, correct? First we head to Colorado and then afterwards, we all boogie to Cherokee, N.C.? :shhh:
If so... sounds like a plan man. I'm in
'riding'
Will, Yes and Yes.
You have nearly 4 days to make your way into Cherokee
Leaving Grand Junction Sunday 8-26-17 around 9-10am arriving in Cherokee on Wednesday 8-29-17 around 3-5pm
The ride between Grand Junction and Cherokee is approximately 1700 miles, take some detours.
I figure that I will Drive/Ride on Sunday until 8-9pm 650-700 miles, spending the night somewhere around SALINA, KS.
Monday morning hitting the road around 8am riding another 700-750 miles and stopping just south of Nashville around 8-9pm (Murfreesboro area). Tuesday morning hitting the road around 9am and taking my good ole time getting into Cherokee through the mountains, arriving in Cherokee Tuesday afternoon and winding down, catch up on some business and maybe visit a masseuse at the Harrahs casino:shhh:. Wednesday morning hitting the Grocery store and the High Octane mountain water stores. Need to re-stock the supplies for the weekend. TOO EARLY to even think about this, my itinerary may change.

Well... not like exactly like THAT above... but the same with bikes... I bet a lot of us will marry up from Grand Junction, Co enroute to Cherokee. NC afterwards... this is like almost a whole year to plan for this.
What will most likely happen is impromptu planning as the rally commences.
So excited. :clap2:
i got lost in the shuffle here - so the rally is NOT in Montrose now - where is it being held . . . i've made a hotel reservation in Montrose - should it be cancelled. . . . if it is not in Mpntrose why was it changed. . . . curious Bunny.
I also have a room booked in Montrose as I got one when it was posted several weeks ago. I'm keeping mine. If the Rally is held in Grand Junction, it's only 60 short miles from Montrose, and I can most likely get there in less than one hour. No big deal.
