You just discribed jakes in one form or another.
Either way, the action forces the piston to work harder getting rid of the exhust gases.
hence you get the engine retriction and the braking action.
carry on,
Do as you wish.

I guess I'd really have to ride both exhaust systems (TL's/TBR's) and the the stock OEM to really determine the difference.
I was looking at the TBR's on Wingstuff.com and there are some bad reviews about them; regarding the fitment and the quality that some people have received recently. :shhh:
The problem with returns is that you may end up receiving someone else's return when you order. Sort of sucks to pay for a new item and then be shipped one previously owned.
As an aside, I will be carefully scrutinizing my ElliptiGO when it arrives this Saturday via Fedex from Kalifornia. If it was a previous return... it's getting shipped right back to them. :nono:
I like the look of the cobra's and the sound.

What was the difference between the 2014 and 2015 exhausts? I have a 2015 with black exhaust. Does this sound different from 2014 and 16 and 17? I've been told that they are better, but I've no idea why. Sounds fine to me. Sort of rumbley at idle and some rumble otherwise. I always wear earplugs... So I am not one to judge.
I replaced the chrome on my ‘14 with the black from the ‘15. The black pipes are throatier and have a little more rumble in them. I especially like the sound as the bike is decelerating and engine braking. That’s when the nice rumble shines. The chrome OEM pipes were definitely quieter, though I wouldn’t say the black are loud.
I have been the very proud owner of a set of TBRs and I assure you, you will not regret buying them! its a symphony of 1832ccs forced through two Billy D. Williams clones :icon_razz:
I have the Cobra Six-2-Six with all baffles in and there is no drone - none. I have had many cars and bikes 50+ and changed many exhaust systems. I know about drone and can tell you that my bike does not have it. It is loud though. I am very pleased with the looks, quality, build and sound.
Amen on that!!!!
It's just the right pitch and loudness so they know it's a big motorcycle, but still without pisssin off my three neighbors (too much) when I start it early on Saturday and Sunday mornings.... My house shares a driveway with these guys, and I am the one furthest from the street... It's also all up a steep hill to the street.... :icon_lol: VROOM!
+1 for torque loopz, no drone an wonderful sound!
blotar
Wonder how the '15-'17 mufflers, w/ torque loops would sound. I'm sure the cats tone down the mufflers a lot. Anybody tried that?
