    Helmet in saddlebag? Which side?

I just tried putting my open face helmet in either saddlebag and closing the lid but can't figure out which side and how to make it work. I read here before about other locking a fall face helmet in one. How do you do it? Got a picture?

    Thanks

    For a Shoei RF-1100/1200:
Right side saddlebag, bottom of helmet towards inner wall, face shield forward, curve of top of helmet contours with the bag lid.

There is NO room to spare.

Can't put a picture up...But you may have read an old post of mine.

I rode for months having to lock my helmet on the bike before I finally found out that it actually fit in the side bag!

I have a 5xl HJC full face, and I found that it will only fit into the left side bag...
stand in front of the left opened bag. Your helmet must go in with the face of it towards the front of the bike, the lid when you close will be touching the top of the helmet (another way to put it...the helmet opening will be facing towards the tire). I also make sure it is towards the rear as far as it will go. when I close the lid it just barely touches and it easily closes...there is no forcing to it at all. I do use my finger tips to help keep the helmet pushed flat up against the back just prior to closing.

Now a HJC 5xl is as big as they come...so I thought. My be true for the inside diameter, but maybe not for the outside. On one of our rides I tried to help another out with this, his was a full face Shoei, but only a large...and it would not fit.
I too also tried the right side bag, but for me...that was not even close to fitting.

    Good Luck!

My XL Schuberth C3 Pro fits in...most of the time. 1 mm out of place, and the saddlebag won't shut (those bags are very, very fussy).

Shield must be facing forward, and I start by setting the base of the helmet on the inside of the lid, when it is open...gotta move the helmet around a little to get it to a place where you can shut the lid.

    I have a large Schuberth C3
Left saddle bag facing forward. ( I guess that is the way you say it / drivers side in car)
It shuts but you need to firmly close it. Then it may need your knee to put pressure on it until the warning goes off.

    I had given up.

wow, this is great news. I tried when I first got the bike and couldn't get it in, so I had just given up the idea.
