Correct, was not able to iron out the details and get the prices down enough, that's why I had not posted the hotels that I was in negotiation with. They have a large Annual Peach Festival that weekend in Grand Junction and rooms are at a Premium. A couple of members from that area had mentioned that if we headed South, the temps would be cooler and we would be closer to more possible routes that everyone will enjoy. So we reached out to Hotels in Durango and Cortez. Spoke with 4 managers and .... Super 8 in Cortez is now our BASE camp. Super 8 rooms were remodeled this year (2017) and the front office/ guest area is to be remodeled this winter.

Successful people build each other up. They motivate, inspire and push each other. Unsuccessful people just hate, blame and complain.

Great part of the country. Mesa Verde Nat. Park. Million Dollar HI way, Canyons Of The Ancients, Telluride, all close. A little farther North is Gunnison National Forest and Hwy 92. On my bucket list so if I make it I will do it before or during if a ride is going that far north.

    F6Bster in for Cortez

I plan to be in Cortez to do some hanging out and riding. Will arrive Wed afternoon but will need to leave on Saturday, so will be able to join in on rides on Thursday and Friday.

I like staying at Hampton Inns, but This great rate at the Super 8 is too good to pass up. Thanks Phantom!

    I hope to do

I hope to do this ride with Will .
I am going to be in my 70s and will need the strength of the young bloods to keep
    me in the saddle.
Have been riding since 1965 and I feel this ride will be a good topper..

You will do this ride with me. You're a beast in the seat. You set the example for the young bloods to follow.

for some of the the rest who've not done a long ride... it's prudent to:

    1. Pop a couple of Advil's or Ibuprofen's each day at the start of each leg.
    2. Stay hydrated.

A 600-700 mile ride in one day can be done by anyone if they push it. Waking up the next morning and knowing that you are not even half way will test (some) of your mettle; if you have not done this type of riding. Throw in a little bad weather and...

Light at the end of the tunnel... that's where we are riding to. Colorado is beautiful. I miss the West (grew up in Scottsdale/Phoenix) back in the day... will be good to see the other half of the country again

    Rally Dreaming!!!!

The forums have been pretty quiet during Thanksgiving week. Now it’s time to start thinking about your trips to Cherokee and/or Cortez and the “Christmas Gifts” that you “need” for these and other trips.

I’m going to Bluetooth, which will also let me get my long overdue new helmet. I think a new windshield is on my list also.
