    Impact on aftermarket vendors ?

Now that the 2018 design is out, we know that many of the aftermarket parts will not fit.

What impact will this have on aftermarket providers?

How soon will they ween themselves off of the pre-2018 market and refocus their efforts on the 2018+ market?

    Very Soon

I'd expect the vendors to respond very quickly. Goldwing owners buy a lot of accessories for their bikes. Since this is the first new Wing in 17 years I suspect a lot of owners were waiting for it, and sales will be brisk next spring. The vendors have a real opportunity here.

Yeah, there will surely gradually be less out there, but you can still buy accessories for the 1500 Wing.

I wouldn't get too worried about it at this point.

Don't be surprised if you see rectangular fog lights going on sale

    Not Bread

One thing about accessories! They are not like bread and spoil on the shelf! There will be a great opportunity for present 6 owners! We can all expect to see some discounts from the vendors

I agree, the 1800 has been the longest production wing in the history of Honda, 1500 and 1200 accessories are still available, even though the 1200 is getting hard to find. Watching the Honda video, the stated there are around 260,000 Goldwings still on the road.

You will see parts available for the 01-17 GL1800 and F6B for many years, there are many, many bikes out there. After market manufacturers only stop supporting when the sales of the accessories drop to low levels.

I talked to Big Bike Parts last Friday, they will have certain parts available for the new 18 models out as soon as two weeks after the bikes are out. They are getting the first bike available in their area. Obviously there are a lot other parts that will take several months to get out.

It seems Honda wanted to capture a bunch of the $$$ spent on aftermarket products. Examples are, electronic adjustable windshield, and seems that Honda has their own style of "Hand wings", removable "trunk", and more. Plus, they want us riders that like the Non tour model, to purchase the centerstand. From the pictures, the frame is all set to bolt it on. Now it's time for the aftermarket companies to counter, and offer new stuff.

..and to make their products less expensive than the new OEM Honda accessories. That'll steal the accessory business back from Honda...
