Bluetooth Headset

I'm sure the Scala is a fine piece of equipment but it is pricey. I 'am trying the cheap route right now with a piece of what I usually call chinese junk. It is a BT intercom headset from gearbest. https://www.gearbest.com/bt-intercom-headset-_gear/ I have only tried it at home so far but works good. Today will be the first on the road test. I think I paid 39 but it is on sale right now for 29 and for the low cost I figured it was worth a try.

I checked these out too. The main problem I see with these is they can't connect with Sena or Scala Rider headsets. The Senas and Scala Rider units can pair with different brands of headsets. This would be useful at rallies like Cortez

I do like my Sena 20s's, I did have one stop working while under warranty and they did replace the unit eventually but it certainly was an exercise in aggregation and patience. I went back and forth with them via email and on the phone, the whole process took about 5 weeks to get another unit in hand under warranty. I can't speak for its durability in wet conditions as I have only been caught a couple of times in very light rain with them and my madstad kept them from getting wet at all.

Sena is not used widely around here. I know no one but see a sport bike guy with one sometimes. The Southern Cruisers I ride with use CBs, lots of GWs and dress HDs and several aftermarket units installed. My Garmin and the bike plays my music from several sources including my phone via BT and the speakers work well. So I just hope for phone use out of this cheap thing.

Sorry for asking a stupid question. If you use Sena don't you give up your bikes stereo system because you don't have a wired helmet and plug in to the bike?

Yes, unless you use an additional bluetooth adapter. One of the members just commented on that setup but I cant remember where. If you use the sena alone you can get phone, gps, and your music (itunes, pandora etc) Can also interface with xm i believe. I have the sena20 and no issues so far. Great for traveling with a companion. No need for hand signals!

Sena has a device called a SM 10 that you plug your headset jack into giving you the ability to make and get calls.
Also to listen to any music source the bike plays through the headset.
They also have a new one that transmitts so you can use your cb by wy of bluetooth.

No my sena speakers in my helmet don't interfere with me listening to the bikes stero system.
I always have the bikes radio on and the volume is at 20 and I have no issues hearing it. When someone talks to me on the sena it goes through the helmet and I still hear them over the bike stereo system or I just mute the stereo for a few seconds.
