Thanks to AZ Wingrider for letting me know that I had a mistake in my Lake City Ride. Sorry. I would have updated it earlier (it is now updated on the Cortez thread) but I was out on a trip and just got home last evening. In plotting my Lake City RTE ride I had stopped at Creede vs Lake City, so this changes that ride a lot and therefore it is probably too long of a day for most folks (but it would be a good Butt-Kicker/Taste of Colorado Ride). Maybe folks can hit it on the way to or from Cortez.
Update:
(1a) Lake City RTE -- Cortez > Durango > Pagosa Springs > Wolf Creek Pass > South ForK > Creede > Rio Grande River Valley > North Clear Creek Falls > Spring Creek Pass > Slumgullion Pass > Lake City (for lunch ) > Return in reverse direction (like a whole different ride/perspective) 436 miles
(1b) Lake City Loop (aka Taste of Colorado) -- Cortez > Rico > Telluride area > Dallas Divide > Ridgeway > Montrose > Blue Mesa Reservoir > Lake City > Slumgullion Pass > Spring Creek Pass > North Clear Creek Falls > Rio Grande River Valley > Creede > South Fork > Wolf Creek Pass > Pagosa Springs > Durango > Cortez (453 miles) [if via Million Dollar Highway, Silverton, Ouray would be 470 miles]

Rick,
F6Bster has outlined what are probably the three best area rides that are around the 300 mile mark that you are wanting. One other possibility for those wanting to do less riding would be a trip to Mesa Verde National Park, it is very easy to spend the best part of the day seeing Mesa Verde. I am also familiar with the area and I will be available to lead or help out as needed. The San Juan Skyway and The Silver Thread (Lake City) are the ones I would prefer but I am flexible.
See you in August
Az Wingrider
To keep the groups smaller we might want to have 2 or 3 groups doing the same ride. Staggered start times or could do the San Juan Skyway counter-clockwise. Any of it works fir me. Be glad to be your tail gunner also.
A day of Mesa Verde would be an awesome day. It is an amazing place!!!!
We already thought about that and had emailed you before we saw your post. We have all the information and just need some more volunteers to lead small groups with the maps provided. We can email everyone.
We also plan on a day at Mesa Verde. Anyone that would like to maybe lead one of the couple groups there let us know.
Az Wingrider, we will be contacting you later today.
Rick
These rides look very good and fun. thanks for posting them and the ideas.

Jeff.....
I'm still planning on going IF my new garage-man cave-workshop is finished in time. I'll know more in one more month if I can make it.
