Before you drill let me check to see if my pocket jumpstarter will charge off the OEM USB..

    UPDATE
I can report that the OEM USB port in the left saddlebag will charge a WinPlus jumpstarter rated at 8000 mAh (3.7v) 2700 mAh (12v)

I can't tell what the charge rate will be but I imagine it'll at least keep a device topped up while driving.

    I hope this helps somewhat.

    Happy trails..

The ratings you're using here are the WinPlus Jumpstart's battery OUTPUT. The input is the standard USB 5VDC, with the higher than "normal" current of 2 Amps maximum. Once fully charged the Jumpstart should use less current to "trickle" charge, and I agree, the bike's alternator can FULL or trickle charge these devices while the engine is running.

I only put those specs out there for product identification.

I used the thumb drive for music until I started using my GPS with a micro sd slot, but I understand not everybody uses a dedicated GPS..

Let us know how how your project works out when you're done.

    Happy trails.
