17,865 miles - High Sierras in October (2014) Videos and Pictures

I'm sitting in the mountains under the High Sierras, just outside Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. This weekend has been a beeeyooootiful time with great roads, FULL of hairpin turns (Dragon be damned, these roads put that to shame!)
Here's a video of the road down from the Giant Forest:

And a second video of the trees up at the top....

And the road into Hume Lake:

    And a couple of images:

And just to add to the smug feeling of riding in beautiful places, the temperature was 78 to 84 degrees all day today.... sigh. I love some things about this state!!!

    kings canyon high sierras

from Visalia to roads end in kings canyon is a nice ride, theres a number of camp grounds throughout the stretch and a small lodge at the end of roads end...... kings river is spactaular when the river is high, fast running, crystal clear....surrounded by huge granit out croppings and boulders.....less crowded than yosemitie.........layed my super glide down there about ten years ago on an a dirt road . also got stung by a tarantula wasp on the ear riding thru Visalia......all in fun ....... strapped a fifty eight pound back pack on my back six years ago and walked the trail past mist falls up to the reyes lake loop....went in 35 miles on foot .....all alone in the wilderness.......checking out goshawk nesting habitat along the trail.....this would be an good place for a meetup for those of us who like to camp out....camp fires are great for the soul.....however there are fire restrictions.....forest service generally closes the gate to roads end in October or November due to ice and snow .......lots of black bears looking to steal your food........do your home work........be prepared......like the boy scout manual says........any one interested?????? hope to hear from you ..........red dog

    great shot!

Successful people build each other up. They motivate, inspire and push each other. Unsuccessful people just hate, blame and complain.
