Oilfield engines....Everything from 220 cubic inches to 7042 cubic inches. Natural gas. One of the guys had been there 21 years. The lady that did the reports and billing had been there 36 years. It's in the cards that whatever goes up fast will come down fast. Hotel owners built and built and added on. Now, of course they can't rent out a room because everybody is getting laid off. I probably won't work at a brake check for $8 an hour either. CCAD (Corpus Christi Army Depot) took a big hit a few weeks ago too. When I tried to apply for food stamps just to help a little, they said I made to much money. With my wifes job and my retirement they said I could sell one of my cars to help pay for food. That, my friends is where being honest will get you nothing. Unemployment will make the bike payment and the car payment. If I have to eat pb & j, the bike stays. I'm sure that some of us older folks remember years ago when someone raised prices it usually went up 3-4%. Now it's anywhere from 10-80% depending on the product....Ouch. I'm off my soap box. Thanks guys.

Are you a Chorpus native and staying put? I will keep my ears and eyes open in and around Houston. You sound like you have the right attitude and that makes up for a lot. You wanna sell one of those dogs? I'll bet not, they are beauties.

I've been here since 96 when I retired. I like the house and yard so I'll probably stay. A guy from ARKOS called yesterday and wants to do an interview on Wednesday. He heard that WPI (Waukesha Pearce Ind.) closed us down and luckily enough he came in the day after to buy some parts. He also wanted to check on an engine he had brought the last week. He was pretty sore that his engine wasn't being worked on. I'm pretty sure he wants at least 3 of us to work in his shop. It's in 3 Rivers which about 70 miles one way. I'm the closest of the 3 of us. Sounds like a good bike ride at least twice a day to me. As far as the dogs, that's just a few of them. There's a total of 7 Rotts, 2 Pitbulls, and a Dobie. The big guy on the left is old and hurting so I think that today is the day for the final vet visit. Thanks stroguy.

Is sad. We have a16 year old Terrier that is heading that way as well. You would never think a bag of fur could have such an effect. When I am reincarnated I have to come back as a dog. I'll be the best mate ever.

We adopt retired racing greyhounds.....our town only allows us to have 4 canines at one time, so we keep 4 rescues.
When one passes, we have a 30 day mourning period, then go get another one.

Made 5 "last visits" to vet since we started this in 2001 - not too sure how many more I can take.

I've got plenty to do to stay busy. Bought some used transformer passenger floorboards, took them apart, bead blasted the chrome off and did the matte black thing. They turned out good. Always something to do to the bike even if it's just cleaning it. BTW, the Liquid Glass thing is GREAT.
