I'm confused. Will, in his thread, he states it was the BikeMP3 rack that was bending and another poster seconded that his was bending. Your pics appear to be the same rack.
If yours isn't that rack, could you please provide the part number and brand of your rack.. thanks!

I have the MP3 rack, like Will's, and am very happy with it. Very strong - no bending - and have loaded it up with quite a few heavy loads. Mine has scratched a bit, but I do carry a metal briefcase on it three or four times a week. Would think that it would take quite a bit to make it bend.

I have had the MP3 rack on for quite a while and have loaded it down pretty good-I know way more then 6 lbs worth and it has not bent.I really don't see how one could bend this rack unless all the wieght was only on the rear curved portion of the rack?

You are right. It is a MP3 rack that I have... same as the thread that Shooter had mentioned.

Glancing at the picture in the other thread Shooter referenced... the picture of the #2 post depicts the Custom Chrome rack that he had installed... and represented as bent down.

That post was what I went off of.... not of his claim in post #1 that the MP3 rack has also bent on him. There is no picture of the MP3 rack being bent. No pictures... no proof of that.

However I would still like to state that I do not see how the MP3 rack could bend like that. It's rated for 6 pounds but I have carried bungee'ed suitcases of beer on mine (24 to 36 cans) with no ill effects.

If your are really piling on the cargo (I'm talking about 50 pounds+) ...and from the way that most of the rack is extended out from the 4 bolt points; I imagine it could theoretically start to bend. I've never planned to carry that much on the rack in the first place though. This is a motorcycle... not a pickup truck.

Here's a comparison that I made between the Bike MP3 rack and the Honda version

Yeah and Will I didn't even read the whole post I just mentioned it for reference. Never owned an MP3 rack. I'm sure if you say its good it is. I don't know what the other guys issues were. I just remembered seeing the post.

Will, how was it for ease of installation? A couple of reviews on Wingstuff say that they couldn't install it without doing modifications. I'm hoping that it can be installed on the Honda rear carrier / backrest attachment.

No problem, Will. I have the bikemp3 rack on order through Wingstuff and should get it on Friday. Looking forward to getting it installed.

I agree that if most of the weight is bearing down within the 4 mounting posts area, there shouldn't be a problem with bending.

    Thanks,
