If some kind of adhesive or something was used, I didn't want to use something to aggressive in case I wanted to remove it later. I was thinking double back tape, but I'm not sure if that would be good enough. Looking for suggestions.

Home depot or Lowes sell gray floor mat carpet by the foot, which is rubber lined on the bottom.
Works great for visibility and won't slide around.
No need to glue down if you follow all the shapes of my template, it is an exact fit to the bottom of the bag.
