I would spray the bolts flat black too. That thing is large and takes away from the look of the bike, but if you use it often, who cares?

Acorn nuts would work if you use all thread rod the correct length. Better would be to use button head bolts, much nicer sloped fit from the edges and tightened with an Allen wrench. Need to be black making them harder to find but you can paint em. I paint small areas with a black permeate marker sometimes. Easy to touch up when needed. However the color does not matter if you remove it when not in use as I would.
I think the rack just might work...................

You can remove (just unscrew) the antenna, hook a wire from it to the metal rack, and it works pretty darn well.
I have an aluminum plate at the bottom of my trunk, and wired the antenna to it. Now, I just have a spring attached to the antenna that the trunk presses against when installed.
