You're right, it does work. But you can't control it from the left handlebar knobs. Try hooking it into the saddlebag and you might get unreadable on dashboard screen, at least I do. I use my ipad mini in the saddlebag and it works great. I can even control songs from handlebar knobs.

    Help with memory stick

I tried my memory stick for the first time today and the results were very poor.
The song would only play for 2 or 3 seconds and then it would stop for up to ten seconds and pick up where it left off.
I have 1,189 songs on this stick and they are formatted in a bitrate of 320kbps, looking at the owners manual it appears that I may have to make folders and put 250 songs per folder, can anyone add a little light to this?
As a side note I went to Radio shack and bought a 6 foot long 5 pin Din cable and two inline stereo mini jacks and made a nice little cable that works well. I also took a set of headphones with metal strip adjustment bands and after removing the top plastic the metal strips slip between the half helmet and it's liner holding the earphones in the perfect position. So for twenty bucks a little solder, some heat shrink tube and a little time I can listen to music.
Next project will be a four pin inline connector so I can try a cell phone headset set with the intercom, if anyone has tried this I would love to hear how it worked.

Yes just format the stick with folders as the manual and it should work better

The headset will not work straight to the bike, cellphone headsets use a powered MIC the wing intercom uses dynamic non powered MIC, you will need to add a power source to the bike to use the headset or change the MIC on the headset.

I bought a $19 adapter for the intercom plug to mini plug -- for in ear headphones. Plugged in my older iPod and my pretty good ear buds and am happy. The speakers are not much use with my full face helmet at much speed. Ok for talk radio, though.

Good info. I ended up getting http://www.amazon.com/Streambot-Wire.../dp/B00KINSDK8 unit for the NFC and auto-connect. I will probably not use the handsfree portion of this.. I just liked it uses the latest low-power bluetooth 4.0 for a little more. It does not meet the needs of the original post, but fit my needs.

Now to keep searching to find out more about replacement speakers. ..

Phil- this option has no future. You pay for satellite radio every month when everyone else gets free streaming audio? Some say it's not really free if you pay for data, but T-Mo doesn't count steaming audio against your data plan

I use a old ipod classic, you can use an old iphone if you want or like others have said a USB stick drive will work too. Audio level out of the plug in the left cubby is much lower volume and like others have said you cant change playlist or skip to different artist like you can from the rear left saddlebag. In addition the left saddlebag provides power. The left cubby jack is just that an audio jack. I also find using the Bagger shield I can listen quite well to the speaker system up to 80.

But then I shift into 2nd and go over 100.....faster red model!

The Nano is the least expensive iPod you can use. The iPod Shuffle does not work. Yes, your iPhone (if you have one) will work, but I prefer to have that separate.

As far as needing an amp: not for what you're using it for. If you play the music on your external speakers, yes, you might need an amp. But I don't care what you ride, if you listen to music on the external speakers, the sound quality isn't as good as your Sena or my Scala Rider, providing you have a connection to the F6B audio system. My connection is through a cord from the headset to the rider's intercom connection next to the left fairing pocket. EC makes an adaptor that plugs in there.

I'm not sure about Spotify, but if it's web-based or cloud-based, then you're at the mercy of a satellite connection, which isn't always available.

A flash-drive should work as stated above, but I've read of folks having problems with various drives or file formats. An iPod is a no-brainer for me.
If you use your phone, it would also broadcast GPS directions if you were using a Navigation app, right? I do that through Bluetooth in my car. My free phone GPS app beats the crap out of the $1500 head unit navigation.

I don't have many audio issues. Use a half helmet( novelty) and stream from my phone slacker radio. Bluetooth is a really cheap dongle that works great. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008AGQMQC
Have it plugged into the jack. This way nav and music comes through the speakers. Even at speed, the radio is not above 13 most of the time. I also have a cheaply made USB drive with 50 mp3 files on it.
