I use my glovebox ALL the time and yes, I have some marring on the gas cap lid.
Hinge angles.
Seemingly trivial????
Even a redesigned (routed?) bottom of the glove box lid would prevent that marring.
At 55k miles, that is honestly the least of my paint worries...

Show Chrome makes/ made a smoked chrome part that rings the gas door. Event that on my 13 was getting chaffed. For my 14 I picked up some clear panel protector from Saddleman. Replaced it in the spring. Still going strong.
My 6 has 35,000 +, appx 31,000 by me and I love it. Just got back from a 2,700 mile ride to the Smokies, but my arse/back cannot handle more than 1.5 hours in the saddle before I need to stop and that is w/a Mustang seat, not the bikes fault but my bodies.

My gas lid is chapped also and it never occurred to me that it was the center console lid that was causing it. I figure it was gas fumes or just another issue with the paint used on the bike.I have the same problem where my jeans rub against the 'gas tank' sides. Normally I have just been waxing them and call it good.
I got mine in June'13 and I am still in love with this bike...
I just put a small strip of Invisa Bra on the edge of cap. Still crappy design IMO. This bike is an 7 out of the crate but would be a 10 with better quality trim and paint
