We're in the process of planning a 2 month tour of Europe. The bikes are coming with us, and we'll camp a bit, BnB and hotel as necessary... The goal is equal parts see the sights/enjoy the ride. The initial plan is to tour the UK, then cross France, southern Germany to Munich, then Vienna, down through northern Italy, the riviera to Spain, follow the coast and up through Portugal back to France. We will travel through Bordeaux and finally depart out of Paris. I would like any input from members familiar with any part of our route; must see's, must avoids etc... Over the years I have visited many of the areas on the route individually, but never on a bike. So if you've learned some indispensable nugget of wisdom during your travels, even if it just relates to long distance bike trips in general, please pass it on...
Thanks in advance

Sounds like you have it all planned. Inverness, The Highlands, Skye, Mull, Oban. The West Coast 500. Lots to see, good food and drink too, only problem is you might just wanna stay here.

I've got a few memorable spots you might consider: Mont Saint-Michel, Vimy Ridge, Bastogne, D-Day beaches, the caverns of Pommery champagne in Reims; Cinqa Terra, Sienna; Puerto Banus, Ibiza....

Are you using the Air Canada Fly & Ride program? I just heard of it .....

We haven't determined yet whether or not that program is still in effect.... Looking at other shipping companies puts the cost at approx. $3000 return. A lot, but we can't rent for that amount, and half the fun will be riding something other than the ubiquitous "Bimmer"!

Thanks for the tips; we had Mont Saint-Michel on the list. I have been to the Champagne caves in Reims, but good idea, we'll do that too.

The Highlands are on the list, as well as the North Coast 500 and the west coast of Ireland. I have Scottish ancestry and my gal is fascinated by all things Celtic.. Our only concern is the weather; looking at the UK in early August.
