I thought that might get your attention. :icon_razz:

This article says the F6B version will be called a Gold Wing. The version with a trunk will be called the Gold Wing Tour. Kinda like aspencade vs interstate idea.

Makes sense to me. It does look like the two models will be more identical than the previous two models. Hopefully, the different models will be more plug-n-play.

Having the same seat on both models should open up the aftermarket for us B'ers. :clap2:

They do look nice. I hope the look, touch, and feel lives up to the pictures, unlike the CTX1300.

Why not make a wing with a removable trunk and sell it with and without a trunk ?

Sales & Marketing would be my guess.

Yep. Look at Harley. Every one of their big bikes is essentially the same with different parts bolted on. Street Glide, Road Glide, Ultra Classic, Road King. Same frame, engine, trans, etc.

Makes more sense to me to just sell one bike with whatever options the rider wants but I’m just a dumb furnace mechanic so what do I know

I think that might be what they are doing. Getting a trunk might be like getting the Nav option.

It's too bad that we have never seen the rear of the new wing yet.

I hope it doesn't look as crude/clunky in person as it does in the "leaked" pictures.

That's the challenge that Honda has, and they can't win. They can not make all of us happy.

I think the trunkless version looks fantastic. The full wing looks - well, like a full wing.

The new B in the photo, if accurate, looks like the area behind the seat might come off as it looks like a small "empty" box. The trunk wires, etc., could go in that area if the optional trunk is in the works. :stirthepot:

I agree ... until Honda announces it, it's fake news. This pattern of speculation and hopes has been going on since 2010.

It's all a huge ruse. October 24 will be the introduction of a new line of step-through touring mopeds. :icon_razz:

The dealer I use in mid-Michigan told me today that they will not have any of the 2018 models available for the showroom until late December of this year....So I'm told, and there you have it!!!...Regards

I'd be surprised if they are in showrooms that early. Maybe the bigger super dealers.

A smuggler style trunk would be nice on the backside of the 2018 Goldwing "standard".

On the bright side, we'll be able to out run the new one if it's limited to 111 mph. :cop2:

1. OP - you got me with the title of this thread.
2. 111 mph limit - might be good for insurance premiums.
3. Step through touring moped - equip it with ABS, cruise and a stereo and I am in! :icon_cool:
4. Whatever the new Wing looks like, get used to it...next redesign is due in 2033...I'll be 57 years old.

Wow I don't like the looks of either of these pics...wing and wing tour?. Body doesn't flow imo. I'll be keeping my wing and b......I may miss new tech but I can live without it.

I wonder, if the specs are correct, what the small chance these numbers are Europe specific? As stated the new bikes have to adhere to a new Euro4 or something emissions standards. What has been eluded to in previous leaks is that the Wings have full computer management of the engine performance. It's not hard to imagine that the specifications could be altered from one region to the next. These specs being listed from a UK source. Out side of that optimistic possibility, the plausibility of manipulation of engine performance to include speed limiters by outside sources could also be in play. Just a thought. :icon_wink:

All of the articles that reference the speed limiting have used km/h instead of mph and emphasized that the limiting is performed electronically i.e. it's programmed in and is not a mechanical limitation.

I wouldn't be surprised if this limit was strictly programmed into the European bikes just to meet some standards over there and a different ceiling gets set for the North American models.

Hopefully it'll have an IMU with cornering ABS. But first I have to get past the big lipped smiley face in the front and the old boxy style saddle bags in the rear.

Don't scoff at the Honda Silverwings. I met a guy on BRP a couple of weeks who was riding one, and his buddies were giving him a hard time a little later in the week, when I ran onto him again, for trailing a bunch of crotch rockets, just north of the Dragon. They couldn't shake him, and were getting kinda mad...

This topic reminds me of when Ford changed the name of the Five Hundred sedan to Taurus. I loved the redesign of the Five Hundred that year (2010), but couldn't stand the idea of owning a "Taurus". The Five Hundred name was much preferred by me.

Same sort of thing going on here .. although I adore the new 2018 design, I'm not a fan of this small name change .. Personally, I would much prefer "F6B".

Even so, I did end up buying the Taurus, and God-willing .. I mean wife-willing .. I will be buying a new "Gold Wing" bagger too. :icon_cool:

Pretty interesting write-up from the folks at WingStuff where they're speculating on some of the new features for the 2018 Goldwing lineup. Some stuff in the article I'd not heard speculated yet. Next week will be exciting for sure.

That hybrid was announced not too long ago. The R&D code name referred to it as the Testicla. Initial reports say the energy expended by the battery packs dramatically dropped off with the age of the machine...so it's back to the drawing board.

I'm surprised Steve didn't put up a multiple choice poll on what features will be on the new model. Love to see the feedback in that poll.

YES there is a F6b in 2018 .... new name the 2018 GOLDWING

Not only that, they seem to be so confident in the new product, they upped the warranty options to 8 years.
The 2013 F6B only had the option to purchase a total of 7 years.
Hopefully the new warranty option will help those not wanting to purchase a 1st year release bike???
