Well I finally got my rack to the point I could test fit it and I have to say I am very happy with the way it turned out. All that is left is to deburr it really well, media blast it and paint it flat black. I was thinking about powder coating it but it will be harder to touch up if it ever needed it. I think I am going to try and find a really tough / durable rattle can paint. I have been reading good things about Hammerite paint so I might give it a try. I am hoping to have it complete in the next week or so and that should be about the same time my Russel Daylong should be finished. Can’t wait!!!!

Very nice. Well done.

I see a lot of American know-how and G.I. ingenuity in that one.

MAN O MAN what a great job!!
Check out brake caliper paint. You can bake it on in you home over, no smell. It's tough & looks good. I did my chrome mufflers several months ago, still lookin' good.

Thanks for the replies!

I have used POR in the past with semi good results; never used caliper paint so that is an option for sure.

Spray on bed liner coating may be durable enough to never need touching up just a thought, and some looks like a matt finish.

I thought about bed liner but for me it’s to rugged looking. I think it’s going to be flat black. It will be easy to touch up as well if it ever needed it.

wow that looks awesome! Great Job! what about the paint they use in the back of pick up trucks...the rhino coating or whatever they call it. It may not be smooth but it would keep stuff from sliding. IDK just a thought. Anyway looks great
