North Carolina ride for November

Several of us are planning a ride up to the Franklin NC area on November the 14th~ 17th weather permitting. We will be leaving Savannah and arriving in Franklin on the afternoon of the the 14th. This is one of my favorite times to ride up there because all the leaves will be gone and so will the leaf peepers. It can be a little chilly but there is nothing like having the roads to ourselves. Let me know if you have any interest in joining us. We will cover a lot of the famous and not so famous roads that are truly amazing!

What I envision for this ride is Big Dawg and his son, Skip, riding at a level a bit beyond "spirited". Whoever joins this group will definitely need to keep "ride your own ride" in mind. Still, if the weather cooperates, this should be one great ride for all who love the "twisties".

I have not called the Microtel in Franklin yet but in November the rates should be cheap. It is the perfect base camp for us. At the moment, it looks like we 4 goldwings committed, 2 maybe's on F6B's and my son on his sportbike. We will make the call on the weather as times gets closer

Friday and Saturday morning the temp will be around 32-34 degrees and both days warming up to 58-60 degrees ...... BRRRRRRRRR , a tad chilly :yikes:

The truth is, I just don't like cold weather. Now that we're well into November, I probably won't be warm again until next May :th_sunbathe: Yes, I'm afraid I'll have to face the fact that I'm a wimp when it comes to cold-weather riding.

The wife flew up to Pennsylvania yesterday to help her when she gets home and more than likely won't return till Saturday or so. I have to hold down the home front, animals and such. Weather forecast looks ok right now, sooooo I may ride up there Friday pm, then take a trip to wheels of time on Saturday.
My F6B is only a month old and I'm still getting used to the big girl so you can have the dragon to yourselves, I'll be checking out the vintage two wheelers in Maggie Valley.
However it might be fun if we can meet up for a beer and burger Friday night and tell lies about how fast our bikes are and why we didnt provide the moderator with our VIN etc etc.

Skip and I will be there rain or shine. My cell number is 912-665-1846. Not sure if we will go back to Maggie or not. We would love to meet and have a beer if we can't ride together. Several of my normal crew have backed out so at this point only my son and I are coming from Savannah. Our big decision now is whether to trailer the sporty bikes up or ride the big bikes up. My son is pushing for the trailer up plan. Stay tuned...
