Our good friend, Fred Harmon, was invited to Austin, Texas to take part in the Gold Wing press event last week. After riding the all new 2018 Honda Gold Wing for a couple days, he spent some time reflecting on his experience and wrote an in-depth review of his experience, which is available to read exclusively at WingStuff.com. At the conclusion of his review there is also a video of Fred riding the new Wing, offering his insights. We want to give a big thanks to Fred for working so hard to provide our Wing community with a wealth of information and for allowing us to share his review on WingStuff!

I received your email on this yesterday and appreciated receiving it. Fred did a great job on his review of this fine new GoldWing. I’ve known Fred for about 16 years and have ridden several times with him. Fred’s opinions are based upon knowledge, experience, and skill, thus means so much more than reviews by many of the magazines. Great job wingstuff and Fred!!!!

I’d love to have one of the new bikes but I just got my F6B last year (at a great price) and have gotten it equipped just right for me (most of the additions were purchased from wingstuff — great place for GoldWing accessories)!!!!

I was impressed with the review. It went into detail to a depth that only a knowledgeable GW owner could do.

Yes, good review. Some things caught my attention. Still using ball bearings in the steering stem. 112 top speed (limiter). Radiator fans blow outwards now. No need anymore for a $3,000.00 Traxxion suspension upgrade.

Very good article by Fred. Makes me want one but I’m keeping the “B” for now.

That blue GWT Fred rode looked like an FJR on steroids!

Beef up the FJR powertrain, throw on an integrated rear trunk and few creature comforts, and you wouldn’t be too far off from Honda’s flagship. Of course, only BMW likely compares to Honda’s new suspension. I think Yamaha’s flagship Venture made a HUGE mistake by not throwing in a VMax engine and liquid cooling.

Hopefully, Honda or someone else will build an accessory for the passenger seat to offer more comfort and security. I’m trying to get my wife ON the bike, not keep her off! Hah!

I’m really loving this new GW! So tempting.

That's what I thought when I saw the Blue Tour DCT in Denver at Fay Myers. I had a 2006 Blue FJR1300 for a number of years and my buddy and I were saying the same thing. Lots of differences of course, but when looking straight on at the fairing and windshield, similar but better.
