I was in SF Bay area a few weeks ago. They had a show the next day, but for hours (day before) they flew sorties over the Bay, was amazing and a bit of after burner action too.

Spent many a vacation in Navarre Beach just east of Pensacola watching them practice. Kids still talk about going over to the NAS and watch them practice take off's and landings. The take off is breathtaking!
They get to the end of the runway and go absolutely vertical like a rocket.

Practice sessions, getting their land cue points down for the show....

For airfields hosting airshows, they will do various practice runs on Wednesday, a practice 'show' with a meet & greet for schools and such on Thursday, then they fly each day of the airshow (Fri/Sat/Sun), usually 1500 or 1530 each day.
