This was the first time I saw something like this on the 2018 models. Hope it's not a trend . . .

Ironically the solid forks was a major change for the wing. They eliminate the flex that is part of the design of the telescopic fork.

Maybe the forks will fold in, break off and absorb some of the impact in a crash reducing the force to the Rider and reducing the possibility of injury. Safety feature?????

Looks like the R. bag is banged up too..... side impact?

Front rim is badly damaged, must have hit something, maybe a curb.

I'm pretty sure the front wheels are not just "falling off" - but I would like to know the conditions behind this sort of behavior.
How much force (head-on and/or laterally) does it take to produce this result?

Maybe there is a safety breakaway point that will help keep the rider from "launching over the bars" when there is a problem.
Maybe US potholes are wider and deeper than Japanese potholes.

I've been to Japan several times and honestly do not ever recall seeing a pothole on a paved road :)

For amusement I'll keep an eye out when I go back in January

To do that type of damage to the front rim of our F6Bs the wheel would be up against the motor with a tweaked frame. Looking at the tire it’s self, just to the right of the bent rim it looks as though the side wall of the tire was cut by the rim edge. I had a friend that hit a deer on a GL1100. He got the bike to a stop without going down. When he went to move the bike to the shoulder he discovered that the handle bars would hardly move. Front wheel was up against the motor.

Looks like very thin hollow metal where the breaking point is. WEAK!!

Looks like a design flaw to me!!

Can't say whether there's a design flaw but I doubt that motorcycle manufacturers have to satisfy FMVSS front-end impact testing as do the auto manufacturers. The picture posted by 53driver is the second front wheel separation we've seen on the new models. Makes me wonder how many we haven't seen. Personally I'm still leery of Honda's new front suspension design, especially the tie rods with the 5mm of allowable play in the bars as specified in the service manual. Hopefully these issues will be worked out in time.
