For you guys that have grandkids (or kids period for you younger guys) that don't read or talk yet I found something neat for my granddaughter.
My grandson learned to read by looking at antique trucks in truck show magazines. By the time he was 3 1/2 he could identify almost all the old trucks. He would look at the pictures and learned that the Mack B61 under the picture stood for the B61 in the picture. Then the states and cities, same way.

So I got this idea, what if there were flash cards with pictures and the word. You know, like an apple picture and underneath APPLE. Well there are, and on the back is just the word. So I found them on the net and got them for my 18 month old granddaughter. She'll be talking soon and it seemed a good way tobuild picture recognition, and then vocabulary; leading to reading.

Maybe this is old news but nobody I asked about them knew.

There, my good deed of the day :-)

That's a neat idea . . . could also be useful for certain adults out there! ;-)
