I added a Tour Pack to my F6B this wknd!
Took me a few attempts but happy with the nice clean install. I really like the look of a bagger with a chopped tour pack, What do you all think? Uhhhhh, where / how can I post pics? Thanks, Cracker6472

Gotta say that the chopped tail pack looks like it was designed just for the F6B. I see your antenna is doing the Limbo. Has anyone who has added ANY type of tour pack done some sort of OEM antenna delete and replaced with some type of integrated antenna embedded into the lid of the pack?

If you wanted a tour pack you might want to consider the regular 12-17 GoldWing. I prefer the bagger look hence the reason I got the F6B. I think the tour packs on the GoldWing and Harley models make the bike look like a “Touring” motorcycle for a retired couple traveling. My wife doesn’t ride with me and I don’t need the extra room. Just my opinion thou. Once I retire and If my wife starts riding with me, I might change.

Looks sharp, Cracker. Nice job on the install.

Lol, good thing that antenna is a bit flexible. I'm doing a little research on small stubbie antennas. I found a few that are only 2" but not sure how compatible they are.

I like the looks of the chopped pack on the f6b. It does look like it was supposed to be on the bike when it was built.

Nice job. Very low profile. Looks great. Does it come off easy?? comes off it just a few minutes, 4 bolts underneath the trunk liner. Takes a bit more time to re-install, just lining up the bolts, maybe 10-15 64936494minutes.

Good deal Cracker. Hey those "other comments"?? Like a grain of salt. You did a nice job on that and it looks great.

Too funny; Just got the exact one on EBay. Did you get your "free mat", lol? I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the hardware and overall look. Can't beat it for the money, and yes, it suits the bike very well. My gal got used to a back rest on a long trip last summer, so thought I'd kill two birds.... A bit of easy storage, and a happy camper!

It appears you used a support plate below and inside, is that correct? I was going to simply use large flat washers on the support posts. I think the bottom of the case looks strong enough to not need a support. We'll see.....!

Nice work Cracker!!! And, I always enjoyed riding in Meeeeeeeeechigan's summers. Especially into the U.P. and up to copper harbor. Btw, I graduated Ferris State.

653165326533 Finally got mine mounted. Off and on in 10 minutes with 4 bolts. Hopefully still looks cool. Stock windshield keeps it looking low and lean...

I mounted it a wee bit high so the backrest would feel more secure for my pillion. I'll see how she likes it and could lower if she doesn't mind it being more in her lower back.

It would look even better if it was lower. I had a nice short trunk, but the wife was not impressed with the short backrest.

Now I went the other extreme. A great big expandable trunk (for 2 helmets and the kitchen sink). It comes off in literally seconds, leaving the original backrest (slightly raised). It's fun experimenting!

Looks good 98Valk! I was thinking about getting that same topbox.

Did you ask for a specific mounting plate? What kind of rack is the mounting plate on? Thanks.

Jason

Thanks!

I'm too cheap to pay for the specific plate. I used a scrap 3/16" aluminum sheet that I had and mounted it where the luggage rack used to mount (about 10" x 10" depending on how you do it). Then mounted their generic locking plate to that sheet. That stays on when the trunk is removed and looks pretty good.

I think the 3/16" is thick enough, but I might have gone with 1/4" if I bought a piece. I get a little bit of flex because the trunk is mounted almost completely "behind" the rack mounts. That is so I can leave the backrest on. If you remove the backrest, you can mount the trunk further up and will be more stable.

Great info, 98Valk. And the mounting plate looks good like that. I don't blame you for not wanting to buy the specific plate. That box isn't cheap even without it.

Case looks good but I want to know what type of speakers do you have there and how are they mounted.
Thanks

That looks pretty sharp! The ‘ole lady might have to loose a pound or two though. Do you have a link that you can share to your vendor?

Thanks, Happy 4th of July!

Hardest thing you do is drill a hole.
Next thing is spacers are from the rack that came with bike.
I used a piece composite cutting board and long bolts
That were long enough and pitch, got off internet.
I also added side lights and usb plug in tour pack.
Nothing and guy could not do given time and a friend.

It's a Shad trunk (SH58X). I think it is made in Spain. I bought mine through Amazon, shipped from England. If you google "Shad Expandable", you should find some links. I think they sell them on ebay, too.

Because it expands from a medium size trunk to a large size trunk (and in between) is pretty cool. That is why I got it.
