Please accept my apologies, my focus in 2019 was on simplifying my life, and enjoying a new Love in my life.

It's time to return to having large gatherings as in the past over Labor Day Weekend.
Taking care of a dying spouse, dealing with her death and the post effects is behind me. I'm very thankful for all that helped in the past and gave a helping hand. I've had a couple of challenges these past 4 years, and as of late I Thank God for the many blessings. Life is great and I now have more time to play, take vacations and Host this F6b Rally once again.

The 3 day Labor Day weekend has been very convenient and gives plenty of time for people to obtain days off, time to ride in on a Tuesday afternoon and take off on Sunday morning.

Tentative Location; Asheville North Carolina, Exit 40 off I-26 --->Airport Road
Tentative Hotel; Clarion Inn
Date; Labor Day weekend Sept 3rd, 4th and 5th

In the past it was the vendors that paid for all of the expenses, that is no longer an option.
We can implement a "Cash Kitty" where everyone that attends puts $$$ into it to cover all expenses.
We still have a few new F6B accessories (foot pegs, 2" side medallions, tool kits, windshields etc.) that can be auctioned off and proceeds used towards expenses as well. I still have a small amount of past funds that will be rolled into this event.

Plenty of drinks and snacks as in the past including evening High Octane refreshments.
A catered Saturday evening BBQ dinner and awards ceremony has always been one of the highlights of the Rally. I would like to try for that again if we can find a restaurant to do this. Donations and site revenues from Vendors paid for this dinner ($1,100 to $1,300) the additional marinated meats and sausages that I brought ($300 to $400) were also covered by the Vendors.

I can reproduce shirts based on pre-orders with the Simple and very popular design, the one with the F6B in wispy lines.
There are plenty of convenient rides from this location, see attachment

https://www.romanticasheville.com/motorcycle_drives.htm

ALL of the major Restaurants are right around us.
Very Very Very convenient for many to reach.
We can get more serious about this in January, this early information will help those that need to block off 2020 vacation time from work.

I notice that most of the B's there were black. Did you guys have to stop and wait for the other colors to catch up?

Been to three of the past rallies. They were fun. The last one I went to was in Pigeon Forge. Asheville would be nice area. VRCC had INZANE there a few years ago.

I'm new to the F6B and would love to attend the rally. I'll pencil this one in. I've been to other group rallies with a Honda nighthawk group and they were always a lot of fun. I'll be following this page for updates.

I will tentatively plan to attend. I’ve only had 1 ride on my F6b after the 450 mile trip home. Shortly after I broke my tibia and talus (ankle) in half in a car accident. My current riding season is over. In 12 months I see no reason I wouldn’t be available for a road trip. I wouldn’t mind being a donor for the event if everything pans out.

I did three F6B Rallies so far, they were great.
I've got the dates already marked off, count me in.

This year for the Pre-Labor Day week, it did the "Circle Lake Superior" trip, perfect weather, great trip, but look forward to another trip to the Smokies.

Same here 1911. 3 for me, too. We could ride there together, maybe meet up in Ohio, or ?? I might drag a couple other F6 riders out of Minnesota, if they can get away from their jobs. Retirement is great!

Hey everyone, I'm still entertaining other Hotel options in the area.
Currently the best rate that we have been given by the CLARION Hotel is $99.00 per night plus taxes.
Being a tourist destination, their rates go up for the Labor Day weekend.

Don't make a reservation with the CLARION just yet.
I will keep everyone posted as we move along.

I’m trying to talk my wife into joining me. She’s never been on a 400 mile trip, but the F6b is new to us and I think when she gets some pillion miles on it, she’ll be sold. Just have to talk in laws into baby sitting. I’ll have her committed or refusing as soon as I can walk / ride again.

That is a beautiful part of the country with the largest selection of great roads of anywhere I know of, so not hard to get me up that way. I'm more interested in the Cherokee and Pisgah National Forest than I 'am the heavy traffic of Smoky Mountain National Park. It is all great motorcycle roads and to see a bunch of F6Bs would be another treat. I'm putting it on my calendar.

Yes it is beautiful out that way and even more majestic with the grand vistas and lack of view blocking trees. Not talking about which is best. The Rockies do not compare with the sheer number of twisty roads in a small area found in the Appalachian mountains. Where the Rocky's have one maybe two roads that go over a mountain, over this way you have a dozen ways of getting to where you want to go. You can ride all day on great roads and never get more than 80 miles from your start point. I hope we can ride together again sometime as you and Dwight were the most excellent riding buddies and dang Az Wingrider knows the roads and lunch stops and sets a good pace. Yep!

There still a lot of roads in Southern Colorado that you haven't seen you need to come back this way next summer for some more great riding. I definitely had a ball with you and jmdainel on our ride the day before the rally. I was up that way in May and found a couple of new roads. There are great roads everywhere and the southern Appalachians and Smoky Mountains are great as well and I hope to make it back there several more times but southern Colorado and southern Utah are my back yard and they are much easier for me to ride to and enjoy

I'm looking at several Hotels, ANY suggestions or assistance is appreciated.

The ones that are around $100 a night don't have the greatest reviews, Labor Day weekend is a very busy weekend in that area and rates have been raised for the last "Hoorah" of summer.

What budget is acceptable for those wanting to attend?
$120-$140 per night seems the norm for a good hotel.

Are you still considering staying in or near Ashville? Nice area, but could be a bit pricier than some of the nearby towns. The motel in Franklin seemed nice, just a thought.

I did contact Microtel in Franklin on Wednesday where we have had the first few Rallies.
Microtel is also adjusting ("price fixing") their rates around the Labor Day weekend.
Thursday rate is $72.00 plus Taxes, Friday $130.00 plus Tax and Saturday $130.00 plus Tax ... Total $374.34 for the 3 nights

They can Block a small amount of rooms at this rate, they need a commitment within the next 7 days.

This has always been a excellent location with so many conveniences and great rides all around us.

All of the Asheville Hotels are around the same rate (if not higher after adding taxes).
If this works for everyone, feel free to say so. I'm fine with a ride into the Asheville area and making our Home Camp Franklin again.

Hi F6B fans, I’m new to the bike and the forum and thanks to all for the informative posts and humor. This Rally looks interesting and fun but I have never been to anything like it. Is it a formal get together of friends or open to new friends with the same interest? Are there planned rides and activities or just go out and have fun in the area and meet every so often. I would be great with either. I’ll just convince my wife it’s a romantic weekend and coincidentally come across a group of riders with the same bike. Please post or pm a flyer with info if any. Hope it’s not too late.

Your definitely welcome! The more the better! Good time to meet people, and to check out other F6Bs, to look at different accessories. Most likely, will be some "loosely" planned activities, but nothing is mandated. Many great activities and scenic routes in that area. Bring some friends, too.

I just spent a few days in Wyoming. Hotels are fine unless you want the free breakfast. Restaurants and bars are not so good. You pretty much need to use fast food or takeout. Admittedly Wyoming is a state with relatively few cases.

I just returned from Asheville NC for a Valkyrie rally and they seem to have the hotel thing
worked out fairly well.
They clean the hell out of the rooms and then will not come back into your room
unless you ask them to.
Everyone was wearing a mask and I know some have rebelled against this but I am 72 and
have to look out for myself when it comes to this.
I know NC has done fairly well with this virus at this point in time.

I just left NC and the surrounding area. I can only say that as of now, the end of July, there are no issues with hotels or restaurants, besides the normal mask wearing requests. Some restaurants are still closed, but there’s no issue finding hotels or places to eat. All restrooms were open at every establishment I went to also. Now, on the BRP, not all visitor centers were open. That’s today, not September, I realize. It’s going to be hard to predict the future like that.

So I will not be attending this year.

For those of you who have never been to this area, the Tail of the Dragon and Cherohala tend to become crowded on Saturdays and Sundays. The plan is to enjoy this 120-140 mile loop on Friday. Kickstands up and we all leave the Microtel at 9:00am sharp.

We will have a gas stop along the way, stop at a couple scenic locations, take some group photos, eat lunch somewhere in Tennessee, stop at Deal's Gap for souvenirs and photos, then ride back to the hotel in North Carolina mid afternoon. Ride out for Dinner into Georgia at 5:30pm, arriving at Restaurant at 6:00pm

CORRECTION.... Kickstands up and we all leave the Microtel at 8:00am sharp.

With a couple of stops along the way, it will take us approximately 3.5 hours to reach the BBQ restaurant where we will be having lunch. Trying to have our group seated before the 12noon lunch crowd. 'partysmile'

The Restaurant has a Friday "Lunch Special" which is 2 slices of Pork tenderloin with gravy, Mash potatoes with Gravy and 1 side dish for $6.95

If this is not what you want, you can always order from their standard BBQ menu.

Never, ever start working on your bike for seemingly simple things before a Rally :icon_doh:

Have had a little trials and tribulations with batteries lately. Got a newly banged up one, and then another replacement of that one. Activated it myself IAW directions; a YTX20HL-BS battery in my F6B. Doesn't seem to want to hold a charge, takes abnormally long to come up as charged on the Battery Tender. Voltage checks at rest show 12.6v but I just don't trust it right now. Just stuck the 5 year old battery back in.

Was going to bring a spare battery with me to the Rally but how redundant would that be?

Was going to replace my rear brake shoes next, and bleed my entire brake system but I'm not tempting fate. I'll do it after returning from Franklin.

Oh, btw are we going uphill on the Dragon this time?
