Looking for some like-minded F6B/Goldwing riders or whatever has 2 wheels in the So Cal area who are interested in long-distance riding events.

Have done an IronButt SS with my buddy, went smooth with the F6B, and looking for some other ones to complete.

The IBA website has several options, and it would be nice to go with like-minded individuals who can hang that long, on avg 19 hrs for a 1000 mile trip, and that is with gas stops and food, pee breaks, avg speed 80 or so.

I figure I reach out here for potential riders since my pool is pretty slim:)

Here is IBA link: https://www.ironbutt.org/

Okay, I'm caving in :) after I got some sage advice from other IBA members, Finding a riding partner or partners for LD riding can be a challenge. For successful group rides, you need everyone to be on the same page, need stops at similar times, have similar ranges, and other needs. Not everyone meshes together well.

So being what it is, riding my BunBurner 1500 miles 36 hrs on Monday, SOLO :), and hopefully my riding buddy recovers soon.

I did the SaddleSore 1000 and BunBurrner 1500, at the same time, last year, SOLO. I wouldn't have made it if I had to coordinate with someone else. I was much quicker and stress free solo.

The longest I ever rode in one day was from my area near Baltimore to Atlanta, roughly 720+/- miles in 12 hours or so. That ride kicked my butt after I arrived that evening.

Went to Traxxion the next day though, and got me new front suspension!

Yup, there is Wisdom in those words, although my riding partner was excellent since we both have F6B's and know each other riding style well.

The longest ride for me was Detroit Michigan to Macon Ga. 811 miles. I was on a 1998 Valk with no windshield. I was having clutch problems (rivets in clutch basket letting loose). Common with some Valks. Did I-75 all the way and only used the clutch to stop and get started after gas. Didn't use it to shift 2nd thru 5th. Made it home to Ocala the following day but, but my arse was dragging.

F6B with custom seat(Legendary-Bill Mayers)) will do the trick, Ma...dt windshield and Ergo 111 and cruise control, and Helibars for super comfort, and stop for gas every 100 miles or so and to powder the nose or stretch:).

I look forward to your report on the trip.

The trip went smooth as silk, the BEAST just won't let you down, short of a little temp drop at 7000 ft+ at 3AM :) 27 degrees in Utah going to Vegas it was comfortable and fast riding the F6B.

I rode my Corona-Salt lake city-Las vegas route 1593 miles within 33 hours, and that was with sleeping in a hotel for a nap :), so I got my BunBurner out the way, next to my Silver BunBurner 1500 miles within 30 hrs :), looking so forward to it.

This was my first SOLO trip, and yes it is quiet in the headset, without your buddy's conversation, so the music made up the difference, it is manageable.

I’m doing my first Iron Butt next month. Severance Colorado back to my hometown of Temecula Commiefornia. I’m not too worried as I’ve done some 800 mile runs in the past on my Harleys. It can snow still here in June but rare.

Well keep us posted on how you made out on the trip to Cali, for me, I'm debating to do a quick 1500+ miler in 30 hrs or less, along 10 Hwy, potentially to Oklahoma, just not sure about the ideal time for the weather as I get closer to Oklahoma, should I wait for June?
Or consider going in the direction of Houston?
Just want to have decent weather, my "girl" hates to get wet:).

I got one for ya Max. Ride border to boarder from San Diego to Vancouver BC Canada should be about 1500 miles. I did this in 1975 was a great ride and I5 was not there then, it was hwy 99 all the way.

Yup almost 1500 Larry, short about 150 miles,(need 1550) but the only thing I do not like is the I-5 before you hit Stockton, a lousy slow 2 lane Hwy clogged with truck traffic :(.

Might have to consider the West-East routes, although your route has the appeal for a kickback trip, with frequent stops.

Lots of “nowhere to hide” road going to Oklahoma from CA. If she doesn’t like getten wet she really won’t like getten hailed on. Storms come out of nowhere in that area and if you’re riding for time it could get tricky.

Ewreck so I have heard from some others as well, most likely taken a more Southern approach, seems a bit more predictable:).

Had a 98 valk also and did an 850 mile day. You and I know a 5.3 gallon tank and 6 carbs = lots of gas station stops.

Yeah, the update on this one is that I did 1522 miles in less than 36 hrs on 5-11-21, Corona, Sacramento, Reno Nevada, Winnemucca Nevada, Salt Lake City, St George Utah, Las Vegas NV.

Nice trip, no issues, cold at 7000 ft in Utah at 1.30 AM.

Did not get around doing the 1500 miles in less than 30 Hrs, still chewing on that one :).

Although the cc, San Diego-Jacksonville FL is around the corner.

I do some long distance trips, not nearly as long as 1500 miles in 36 hours, although I regularly do 400 mile day trips from my house in Orange County CA.

I bought my 2015 F6B Deluxe about a month and a half ago and have already put over 4,000 miles on it in just day trips, no over night trips.

I do love going on overnight trips as well though, the issue is getting the time off work, going to Kernville and Sequoia National Park with my girl, a riding buddy, and his girl in a couple weeks.

I'm always down to head up to Cambria/Big Sur for a weekend and ride the roads around there, or hit the mountains in the area.

Hi Max, do you really stop every 100 miles on those long rides. That's seems like a ton of extra time. What's the fuel range on your bike?

maxrider

SpeedyWho, yeah 100 miles on average, sometimes 125-150 miles, you get the feel for it, the primary reason is to stay alert and hydrated, the overall time is secondary to your safety always.
Gas mileage (32-36 mpg) has not been an issue yet going across the USA, with a little planning you can make it comfortable, and always have spare in your tank for the unforeseen.
