ECU Tuning

I added torq loops and aftermarket exhaust to my F6B and ever since I've had popping on decelerating. I've been told that having the ECU tuned or reprogrammed will eliminate that problem and will give me a smoother engine. BT Moto is doing tunes for the F6B's and I want to send them my ECU. The question I have is how complicated is it to pull the ECU on the F6B? I'm not a mechanic but I do know which end of a wrench to hold, so is pulling the ECU an easy or difficult job ?

I do not know about ecu tuning, but I do have loops and aftermarket exhaust and I can almost guarantee your pops on decel are coming from an exhaust leak. The loops are finicky.

I'll check for air leaks, but I still want to get an ECU tune, so any information on how to get to the ECU would be appreciated.

Pulling the ECU, is not hard. Not a quick job, tho. If you have ever changed your air filter, then you can do it. as one of the steps in air filter change, exposes the ECU. So, It would be a good time to do both. I have a friend that bought a used F6, with Torq Loops and Cobra exhaust. His bike also pops on deceleration. Doesn't seem to bother him.

I have a friend that bought a used F6, with Torq Loops and Cobra exhaust. His bike also pops on deceleration. Doesn't seem to bother him. Same as me, but I loosened the clamps, and hangers, tightened clamps, then the hanger, and pop is gone. Simple to fix if your friend wishes.

SpencerPJ, thanks for that information. It looks like all I need to do is remove the left side cubby to get at the ECU, true ? I had the air cleaner changed about 500 miles ago, so that's no longer needed.

If you watch the video in post 5, fast forward to the 34 min mark, you will see it is a bit more than just remove left side cubby. I have not attempted this, and only done the air filter once, and it was not hard just time consuming. If you don't do much wrench work yourself, whoever did the air filter can do this for you. To remove that side panel, on a Deluxe version you start by removing the passenger backrest, then the seat then both side covers then the fairing garnish then…….
