Hi,
I'm thinking of drilling holes in the honda luggage rack to make it easier to use bungie cords.

I'm contemplating doing something similar to the seat railing. Maybe two or three holes in some convenient locations.

Hopefully you guys have figured out something less permanent. :yikes:

Loop the bungie around on itself or use Heavy duty industrial zip-ties as eyelets.

Although not the OEM Honda Rack, my Home Brewed Luggage Rack has 3/4" holes along the rack perimeter. I use a small "elastic net" to secure numerous item i.e. sleeping bag, golf bag etc. with excellent results. I would imagine that the addition of some small diameter holes to the OEM Rack would provide the same results.

I use these frame loops. You can use them on the seat rails or a luggage rack. They won't scratch the powder-coat Cheap and slick! http://www.aerostich.com/aerostich-frame-loops.html

That will work for me. Yep, bungies and Honda racks, including the MP3 rack are a bi--- to secure tour packs and stuff to. I have been using some Depot Velcro straps.

I loop soft ties like ones used to trailer a motorcycle to create connection points on the grab rail and luggage rack. They work well and do not damage any of the metal parts.

I bought a set of the bungee assist brackets but before they arrived, I read that they work on the GL1800 but not the F6B. Never tried to install them because of that but still have them. Does anyone know from experience that they work on the F6B?

Hell..pull a and screw and find out !!!!!!!!!!!! :039:

Let me apologize first...I really don't care what a majority of the GL1800 board thinks.....they are not allowed to say what they think over there so I don't put to much credence in what they do say..... besides they are all pissed they did not buy a F6B first........

I cant see why they wouldn't work. My concern would be the 2 rear bolts on rail only because the top of the seat is almost level with the rail. So I would position them on an angle maybe. But then again, if you're putting things on the seat and not someones ass, it really doesn't matter if its higher. I have them on order also and will let you know if they work.

Check out Helen Twowheels products for ties and packing systems. Good stuff.

That is basically what these...http://www.aerostich.com/aerostich-frame-loops.html are... but these frame loops are shorter and thinner so you can fit them easily between the seat rail and the tail body work and around the handle area without disrupting the bag lever operation.

Your local Honda dealer may have a gob of shipping tie downs. Most chromie motorcycles are shipped with tie loops. Just ask. I also use them with table lift and recovery trailer. :2cents:

The brackets do work acceptably but not perfect due to the design of the rails. If ordering, be sure to get the bolts compatible with the F6B. Unlike on the regular GW, 4 bolts of standard length won't work since on the F6B, 2 of those bolts must be longer. Overall, I would say the brackets work OK and are certainly better than nothing.

I'm using the ones off my GL. Works great.

I got some nylon straps with buckles, and made a loop of approx 5 inch diameter. I put one on the rear of the luggage rack, one where it meets the seat and one on the handrail, on each side, for a total of six. Works great
