I know there has been a lot of discussion surrounding these two seats. I'm in the market because I want a seat that's lower so I can get a better footing. I like that the Mustang seat is 1" lower, not a fan of sitting another inch away from the bars.

I contacted Mustang and was told they do not make custom modifications so I get what I get. It took a couple of days of email and calling to get a response. The Tripper Fastback seat looks awesome and I've owned Mustang seats in the past so I know they're well built and comfortable. IMO they are the nicest looking seat of any manufacturer for the F6B.

I contacted Corbin and received a call from a guy at Corbin the next day, he told me he could customize the seat to achieve what I was looking for. Needless to say I was impressed with them contacting me so quickly. I have read some members posts saying Corbin is hard and uncomfortable. I have never owned a Corbin so I have no personal experience. I really like the modular style of the smuggler seat and have to say the solo seat with the trunk looks pretty sweet.

I did look at the ultimate seats but they don't appear to have anything that caters to those of us with a shorter inseam.

I'm ready to pull the trigger and any feedback would be helpful. I know it's ultimately about comfort but I don't have the luxury of trying either of them out before I buy.

I got a Corbin but I need a harder seat.If the seat is to soft it hurts my ass within 15 mins riding.Love it so far and I know from past experience with Corbin will get a little softer .batman-smilie.

Picked up a Corbin during bike week and absolutely love the seat..... Only issue is that you have to loosen it up in order to take the side covers off.... I have the suspension set for two up riding and have no need to change it. So not an issue here for me....

I had a mustang on my last bike (Vulcan Voyager) and a Corbin on this bike (F6B), and I have to say that I find the Corbin much more comfortable.

I've had just about all of them at one point or another. I find for me the Corbin generally works out the best. I know others who have had great look with Ultimates and Russell Day Longs as well. But I've got a Corbin butt as they say :icon_biggrin:

I tried a Corbin on my bagger, never have I paid so much and gotten so little, except for maybe my 1st marriage. Super hard and uncomfortable, I never had to take Aleve just to sit in the saddle for 20 minutes with any other seat. Took it off after two tries and sold at a loss.

Takes more then 2 tries for a seat to break in nice to your ass .batman-smilie.

Or your ass to break in to the seat! :yikes:

If your seat doesn't fit well enough from the beginning to avoid PAIN, eh, it's not the right seat for you.

This is one of those '1 answer does not suit all' questions. Best advice I can give would be if you are happy with a certain seat manufacturer before, try them first!

Agree 100% but before you purchase a Corbin seat there website says about breaking it in 1500 miles and the inside cell foam breaks down and gets better and better with more miles.I see no point in starting seat threads anyway because everyone's ass is different.See what seat you like by the looks and give it a try .batman-smilie.

Mustang for me. Just ordered after reading and checking price. I have never been so satisfied with a aftermarket seat than with the mustang. It gives you more controle of the entire bike than the stock seat does. the removal of one inch puts your feet right on the ground. Great improvement over the stock seat. :icon_lol:

Yep. RDL says theirs takes time to break-in as well, but I'm not sure of the exact mileage they recommend,,, They do give you up to 8 months to 'get you comfortable*' before their 'buy it back' warranty expires.

*Must allow RDL the opportunity to make (2) adjustments before you can request they 'buy-back' your seat. Shipping to RDL for adjustment(s) is on your nickel.

If you send in good pictures, be honest about your weight, and accurately describe ~how~ you'd like to sit, (within the limitations of the bike/seat pan), they do a pretty good job of getting it right the first time!

The VTX 1800 I had before was a 'ballz on tank/azz on fender' kinda bike for a big guy like me,,, I needed to go UP with the seat to gain more seat real estate, but I asked to go down,,, I did sent that RDL back for an adjustment once, but there's only so much you can do. Seating me in a lowered VTX 1800 seat is like trying to fit an ostrich egg in a regular egg carton!!!

Lowerwinged mine by 1.25 too. I have now ordered the kuryakyn risers to get the handlebars 1-2" closer and am planning to order the mustang seat which I am nervously hoping will work well combined with the risers for a perfect seating position, giving me an additional inch lowered and an inch back and an 8" back support.
