Do any of you stand on the left drivers peg in order to mount your bike? Isn't that a little too much for the peg?

When boarding a GL1500 or GL1800 trike without running boards I always stand on the foot peg.

I been doing since I got the bike.I have a floorboard not a peg.I am around 275.So if it holds me it should handle most riders .batman-smilie.

+1

I think the only chance of doing damage is if you were to jump up and down on the peg but steady pressure at any weight it can handle.

IMHO

6'3 300lbs here....I stand on mine all the time no problems. Mounting the bike or just standing up while riding to stretch a bit for a second or two....... sometimes I do it just to put my big azz in my Girlfriends face! With the stock set up it's definitely ok to do, with the adjustable mini floorboards that I have it's probably not the smartest thing to do but I never claimed to be the sharpest knife in the drawer!!!

I would like to start this statement by saying I am in no way a light weight... But I'm curious about something? Some of you are mentioning that your weight is 300+ lbs. and carrying possible added accessories, luggage and passengers. If I am not mistaken, I read in the owners manual that the maximum weight limit for the F6B is 400 lbs. total. Past that point anything can happen! :nono:

Our F6B machines are overbuilt as a safety measure. Think lawyer! :yikes:

LOL....don't believe everything you read. If you listen to Honda you will be in 5th gear by 25 miles an hour every time you take off from a dead stop. :icon_mrgreen:

+1. At a capacity of 400lbs damn near every wing on the road would be overloaded. Think about it, you get an average guy at 180-225lbs, throw on an average girl at 125-150lbs, add in a weeks worth of camping gear and you are easily over the 400lb "limit".

Fact is there have been plenty of wings ridden two up carrying 700+ lbs of people and gear while pulling a trailer, in the snow, uphill both ways, yada yada. If anyone ever released a bike designed for 2-up touring that had a LEGITIMATE 400lb capacity it would never sell. You would be too close for comfort even if you and your wife were nice and svelt unlike some of the tubbos on here (said with love from a 6' 300lber so don't get offended! :moon:).

As for 5th gear by 25, if I am in a hurry or having a bit of a hooligan period I am lucky to be out of 1st by 25. :jerkit:

I always use the center stand, so, I always use it mounting the bike. Had 150,000+miles on my 2004 GL1800 and never had a problem. 6'3" 272.

I stand on my pegs from time to time to stretch out, done it on every bike I've ever owned. Not a problem. Do watch out for the po-po though; in some states that can get you a ticket. Oh, and don't fly off the back. :2gwb921:
