I did speak to Kay Sat.6/8, and she confirmed the room rate of $49.00 per night, to include Continental Breakfast as well...A unbelievably low rate for the area ... When you call please ask for the Honda F6B/Rune room rate...Plenty of room for trailers and a very welcome staff...Here's to a new Rally Point moving forward!!!!!!

I have come to the conclusion that I need a memory card in my GPS and looks like I need to buy another one...Another decision, I use a GPS about twice a year....can't see $1000 for a Zumo when a lessor one will do what I need......

Liking it all. Will discuss tonight and hope to book tomorrow. We'd be leaving Sunday. Don't know how that will affect rates but it don't matter. I'm looking forward to riding, meeting you folks, and talking F6B stuff. I have the faster RED F6B model. Looking forward to seeing them slow Black models I hear about.

I've been talking to some of the riders that are going to be in Franklin for the LABOR DAY RIDE-IN and here's a tentative ride schedule that the group likes so far (subject to change... please put your thoughts in! ) :

Friday ........ Doing TAIL OF THE DRAGON, and as many routes near it. MOONSHINER 28 or CHEROHALA SKYWAY or OCOEE LOOP.

Saturday......Going to Maggie Valley...Visiting The Wheels Through Time Museum...Photo Shoot in front with Dale.
Then ride to Cherokee and other routes out of Maggie Valley.

Sunday .......Ride up to Highlands, NC stoping one or two of the water falls, Lunch at the Dillard House in Dillard, GA. Then to the SIX GAP in North Georgia.

What rides / Routes would YOU like to do ? Your input is just as important as ANYONE else's!

The DEVILS TRIANGLE ?
GOT A ROUTE NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT ?

Steve, and all you East Coast hooligans...is this gathering of F6B's still going to happen ?

It looks like my planned ride for this years Three Flags Classic...the 38th annual...is going to be a bust, as many of us are selling off or dumping our $ 260.00 ride tickets, because of the many errors and mistakes of the ride committee, so...

I am available to go somewhere else that week. Wish it was not to the southeast...but...a gathering of F6B's is hard to pass up.

So, if this gathering is still a go...let me know...and I will plan to ride from Washington State to the nether regions of the southeast.

Yes, the party is going on as scheduled...we have about ten rooms sold and hopefully more from the Rune board will join as well....The current financial situation for some is not what they wished it could be...so this may curtail some folks as well...2 months to go...

Oh! I'm sorry how about embellish, shoot the breeze, pull someone leg, partake in adult beverage...lighten up this is supposed to be fun! And I would think anyone who has ridden 1.8 mil miles has to have some stories to tell, if nothing else the original story that made you concerned about flying...

I'll be happy to lead one of the brisk rides if anyone is interested. I suggest no more than 6 for the brisk ride. This ride is mainly for those who have a lot of experience riding the twisties. It would probably be best suited for those who are riding solo. CB radio is a huge plus but not a requirement. If there is no interest in peg dragging, then we can do a slower pace.

I would not want to miss the first ever F6B rally, so I will not. The wife and I are booked at the Microtel in Franklin at the $49 dollar rate. We never been to a rally. Never stayed at a Microtel (sounds micro like?). Note they do not have quest laundry machines but they do have a Wal-Mart. We shall survive. We're looking forward to meeting all you folks and I am especially looking forward to meeting you Miles. Yep you should get an award for distance travel. I wished it was me. I will certainly buy you a cold drink. We be arriving Thursday but must head out Sunday.
I will post one of those Avatar things one day but I figure no rush. My RED F6B looks a lot like a RED F6B. There are several on here. Mine looks like that.

In the past, some of us from the Rune board have gone to rally's and it is all set up...where you are going to eat, when, where you are going and how, and when....I have personally set up many of these rides and they went well...Here is the deal...Where do yall want to go, what do you want to see, what kinds of roads to you want to be on...our we site seeing, riding twisty's , spending the day on the Blue Ridge or do you want to try to scare yourself??? I have made up three rides as of now...day one to the Dragon, twisty roads and BBQ dinner , lite lunch at the Dragon for those who need a snack...back to the motel for tire kickin...
Sat...ride to Maggie Valley to see the Wheels thru Time or eat across the street if you are not interested...back to the motel for some who have had enough and have a cookout at the Motel and then there will be some door prizes to auction off as well ( to be announced )...for those who want to ride longer, jump on the Blue Ridge to Cherokee and back to the motel....
Sun, Ride some twisty's, ride the blue ridge and eat dinner at the Dillard House in Dillard GA...

Bottom line NONE of this is in stone....Some may not want to ride in a group, some may want to do their own thing, some want to site see.....it is YOUR RALLY and at the end YOU should be happy!

I am looking for suggestions as to what some may want to do...I currently have two others who are willing to lead a ride if needed. If someone from this group has a ideal and wants to do something as well,...post it so when we get there ...we know what will happen....We leave on rides each day at 9:00 yes I know this is late but some of us are on vacation as well....YOU SHOULD GAS UP THE NIGHT BEFORE, and be ready to leave as well.....It is difficult to hold back 20 - 25 riders because you overslept or did not fuel up the night before... There will be a truck and trailer if anyone has mechanical issues as well...

Any thoughts ????????????????

We are good with what you have for sure. Like you said before if we ride the dragon then Friday is the day. Will likely still be pretty busy but better than the w/e. We be flexible. Looking forward to riding, relaxing, meeting you folks and talking F6B with F6B folks. FYI. I went on a charity ride this w/e in Cleveland, TN. At least 60 bikes: 1 Yamaha, 2 Vulcans, and zero Honda's period. All the rest Harleys. I rode my Victory on this one but did wear my new F6B shirt. No one would acknowledge the shirt unless they caught me off to the side and then ask me about it. It was strange, strange in deed. Yes. We certainly be looking forward to seeing you guys.

Hey Phantom and Steve, can one of you gentlemen please check with the rally motel and ask them if they would please have a bike washing station outside somewhere, so we can wash or clean our bikes ??????

I recently stayed at a Super 8 in Bozeman, Montana, and they had a bike washing station all set up, with a hose, nozzle, washing bucket, a gallon of washing soap, a lot of rags to wash and to dry, even tire spray stuff. I was impressed, used it (which I normall would not do, but I had a lot of free time), and I thanked them for having this.

Most motels already know that they need things like this, to avoid the riders using the motel towels to clean their bikes.

Please ask them.

Thank you,

Steve 0080

Steve, I did not see the EC lights in the trailer.

BUT...how about another request for the rally, since you have taken care of the Bike Wash for us..............how about finding a really good pin-stripper, that is willing to come set up at the rally for one or two days, and would be willing to do pin-stripping on our bikes.

I think it is fun to get a local artist to do the name and year of the rally, like: 2013 F6B Rally.....Franklin, NC.

On my '89 ElectraGlide, I did an 8 month trip all around North America, and visited every rally I could find during those 8 months, and I always had the pin-stripper that was working the rally do a small mural or signature piece of the rally, on the front of the batwing fairing of the HD. After 8 months on the road, that fairing was covered in art.

Where is everyone coming from to meet in North Carolina. It would be great if some us could meet on the way down and ride in together. I am riding from Northern Va. right off 95. If someone is passing through Va. I would be happy to meet up. I plan to head down on Thursday morning. According to google maps it is a 7hr ride from where I live in Fredericksburg just to give some of you a frame of reference passing through Virginia.

There is a FLORIDA group of Riders meeting at 7:00 am Thursday Morning in Lake City (EXIT 427 ((aka Route 90)) off I-75) at the Cracker Barrel. Departure time will be 8:00 am on the dot.

This is near I-10 and I-75 , we will also have a 7-8 hour ride up from this meeting point.
There are several Motels at this exit if you are coming up the day before and want to rest before the ride up on Thursday.

Big Dawg will be leading our " spirited " ride each day...should coincide as far as dinner dates go...no site seeing just some great back roads ... these rides will be leaving at 0900 as well unless that group makes other plans...Jimmy has been riding and living in the area for many years and will take you on the roads only the locals know.... if you can ride the twisty's , this will be a great riding.....

I'm really looking forward to meeting all of you and doin' some ridin'. It will be especially fun to get back on the Dragon. The last bike I rode through there was a Valkyrie several years ago.

Speaking of the Dragon...I took the Bike Safe North Carolina course this morning. It was divided between class time and riding time. They showed quite a few videos of accidents and it was interesting that several of these were taken from the Dragon. It's just a reminder that something so much fun can also be dangerous if not taken seriously. All of you ride safe to Franklin! See you there, Lord willing! --Ken B.

I hope to be able to meet up on Saturday at the Wheels through time museum.

Please have safe rides into the area, and watch for police. They are getting heavy in the area due to more and more accidents and fatalities this year.

Also anyone new to riding in the area be sure to ride at your own comfort level. These mountain roads can be different with off camber and surprising switchbacks, and with all the rain we have been seeing there is a lot of debris and rock slides as well.

We have not kept a registration list, but will be a nice size group. Some will arrive thursday, some will arrive friday and some will arrive saturday. The hotel also did not keep a running head count, perhaps next year.

Thanks Tony. I started getting a few of my things together today for the trip. Can't wait!

They must be having too much fun to share pics with us.

Maybe there's no wifi at the hotel. Trying to think positive. :iduno:

Thanks, Jimmy! These are just too much fun to pass up! You had me sold when I saw the 10 feet of sparks you left behind. Next year, you won't be the only one :icon_biggrin:

The pegs savers come with instruction to bolt them on your foot pegs. After you install them on your pegs, just go riding and lean the bike over far enough for the pegs to drag. Bingo, you have lots of sparks. The titanium works the best!

Just wanted to express my great appreciation to Steve and Tony for leading a great rally experience. Thanks to Big Dawg too for some good curve-riding tips.

Over the years, I have attended many rallies but I can't remember one that was better planned and orchestrated than this one. I also don't remember one with nicer, more considerate, and helpful folks. Lord willing, I will be back next year for the next adventure! Thanks again to all who made this so memorable. --Ken B.
