The F6B is on the top of my list for my next motorcycle. My current ride is a Yamaha FJR1300. It's a fine bike, but I've developed an extreme sensitivity to vibration. There's something about that inline 4-cylinder vibration I find especially unpleasant. My wife has a BMW R1200R with a boxer twin, and while it vibrates more, I don't find it nearly as bothersome.

I wasn't going to consider the F6B, but after doing some research, I concluded that a flat six powered bike is the best there is for those who hate vibration. Still, I thought for sure such a heavy bike would handle like a pig and be boring. The first dealer I went to was listed on Honda's website as having a demo F6B. It turned out they didn't, but while I was there I tried out a Honda CTX1300 and a Goldwing. The CTX1300 was truly awful. The handlebars felt completely disconnected from the front wheel, and it was gutless. Then I rode the Goldwing. The handling and power were far better than the much lighter CTX1300. While I was riding it, I thought it would be perfect with a little less weight and a more spacious saddle. So, the next day I found a F6B at a different dealer to take for a spin.

The F6B was perfect. I was surprised how much better it handled than the already great handling Goldwing. The lighter weight helped in the power department too, but the difference wasn't quite as dramatic. While I felt cramped on the Goldwing, the F6B felt just right.

I'm so glad I found the F6B. I feel like I won't have to give up any fun to enjoy the smooth running flat six.

My wife was less enthusiastic about the F6B. She didn't like the footpeg position, thought it was too heavy, and needed more power. But, she didn't hate it so much that she wouldn't borrow it for cold weather commuting. I promised her I would try a BMW R1200RT once the recall fiasco is resolved. I know it will faster and better handling, but there's just something about that F6B that does it for me. Plus, I hate the thought of having another BMW in the household to take across town for service. The Honda dealer is within walking distance.

My wife suffers a similar malady from the vibrations. The F6B was the solution and has turned out to be the perfect choice. I rode the BMW, but I wasn't impressed. It was fast and handled good, but the ride didn't compare to the F6B.

The Flat 6 engine is the smoothest motor I've experienced on any bike. Not sure why your wife would think it needs more power. Did she rev it up to 4-5 grand before shifting. The bike is a rocket!

I mistyped. She didn't think it would have enough power for me. While it may not be as fast as my last few bikes, I think I'll be quite satisfied with that smooth torquey engine.

I don't have the bike yet. The soonest I'll have the funding in place is probably the end of August. I did take a photo of my wife after she took her turn on the demo F6B.

I asked her to smile, but she didn't want people to think she actually liked the bike. Secretly, I think she loves the bike but doesn't want her BMW friends to find out.

We may be having another F6B owner in our house too. My wife Kim has been looking at the CTX1300 really hard but she now wants to take a spin on my 6. She handles her '98 Valkyrie very well but was looking to go a little lighter. Even though the 6 is slightly heavier than her Valkyrie Tourer I think she will find it easier to handle. The smaller front tire is a plus. I think the single thing that will woo her to the F6B is the.... radio. :icon_rolleyes:

Yup, you did..... and it just might happen.
She is partial to the red one, doesn't like the yellow.
Probably can get a better deal on a 6 than the CTX. Still some '13's at the dealerships.

Some great deals can be had on the '13's! I was browsing Cycle Trader and there are several for under $15k (http://www.cycletrader.com/Gold-Wing-F6b----Honda-Motorcycles-on-CycleTrader.com/search-results?category=Touring&condition=N&make=Honda&model=Gold+Wing+F6b&price=10000%3A14999&schemecode=AD&sort=price%3Aasc&type=356953&vrsn=hybrid&year=*%3A2013&). If the fake fees aren't too bad, I might do a fly-n-ride when I'm ready to buy.

This is definitely the time to buy. Many dealers are blowing out the leftover 13s.

So, i didn't want to open another thread. just putting my thought into this one. I'm in the same dilemma right now,
currently riding a Harley Sporty and although i love the bike for what it is, it just not the bike i want to use on longer trips. I use my bike every day for commute, ok rather short but still. Don't remember last time I've had to fill up the gas tank on my car. I'd say use between bike and car is 80/20.

weekend going to some dealer and checking on their inventory for leftover and new F6B. Website shows they have finance special and some dealer i checked online selling '13 for around 15k OTD.
Just wanted to hear some opinions on what to do and what price is a good deal on a leftover '13??

15k sound like a deal to me!

thanks, one year ago the bike wasn't leftover. i wouldn't think they discount a brand new bike.
i will find out what the status on the current financing offers this weekend.

I thought my old intro thread would be a good place to post as I finally got my new F6B! Pardon the mess in the garage. We're in the middle of a project.

Wow , great comeback. Nice ride too. Congratulations. That Blue looks really good. If I were to be looking at a 15, I'd sure have a hard time deciding which color.

Just thought I would throw this out there....I have noticed more than one person say the CTX 1300 is underpowered. I currently own a level 3 Wing converted to an F6B and a CTX 1300 and while the CTX is not quite as smooth as the Wing (what is?), mine is just as fast if not faster than the Wing, at least up to a hundred MPH and it also handles quite well in the twisties, it just takes a bit of getting used to handlebar position and mirror location compared to the Wing.

That Blue looks really good.
Thanks! The blue is really nice, especially in person. I had actually never seen a blue F6B in person until I laid eyes on mine for the first time. It is the same blue as the 2014 Valkyrie, so I figured I'd also like it on the F6B when I put down my deposit site unseen. I think it looks even better on the F6B.

Glad you like the CTX1300! I haven't compared magazine test stats, I just perceived it to be less powerful. Maybe if I had taken a longer test ride my opinion would have changed.

I love the exhaust tone! I hadn't heard the 2015 exhaust until my bike was started. The guy from the dealer who delivered the bike is a Goldwing owner. He kept going on and on about how much better the exhaust tone is on my bike compared to his.

Yes that blue is very sharp on the F6B. On the Valkyrie I was less enthused about it and preferred the black or the red.:icon_mrgreen:

I am sure I hear the exhaust of the new ones soon enough. I look forward to it. I'm keeping my eyes open to see the new Two Bros. Exhaust.

Just a thought, perception sometimes can be very subjective. The CTX1300 at 76 hp and 78 ft. lbs of torque and a Cycle World test 1/4 mile of 12.8 seconds, it measures a full second slower than when Cycle World tested the F6B. I really liked the ergonomics of the CTX1300, and if they had left the engine alone when they transplanted it from the ST1300 who knows. But Honda decided to neuter it for a more Cruiser style feel I guess. Nice bikes though.
