Pulling a trailer.

Picked up my roadstar trailer last weekend. Downloaded the Manual, pretty sure I will load it correctly and know the 6 can handle it. Question is, in going to Sturgis, other than personal choice, is it easier on the 6 to take freeway ,constant speed pulling or scenic threw towns route with more slowing/ acceleration and stop/go. Thanks in advance.

Makes no difference!...Put the heavy stuff over the wheels and make it so it can not move , make sure cooler is full and pull on!

Try for 10% hitch weight. Cooler weight will mess with that. I have lots of miles pulling my Bunkhouse, Lil B camper. Little push when doing Ricky Racer thru the twisty sections. :yikes: My pull weight is around 300 lbs. Like having a chunky co-rider. :shock: I attempt a 30 lb hitch weight. :cheers:

Sounds like,,, If I unhitched yer trailer while ya weren't looking, and hopped on the back,,, you'd never know the difference! :yikes:

Never have towed with a MC but did many miles with bumper hitch trailers of all sizes/weights,,, There is a bit of an art to loading weight on a trailer, and axle position makes a good bit of difference on the overall scheme.

Had a 16 ft tandem axle once with the axle center just barely past midpoint. Handled like pure crap with long loads. Never could get enough tongue weight. Next trailer had the tandems a bit father back. Mo Bettah!!

Don't wait to test load and test ride for proper set up. Don't be that guy in the group thats holding up the group on the side of the road trying to figure it out. I've traveled with "those" guys. "Ya I thought that single cheep strap would hold". After the third stop and still wouldn't take my advice told him, I'll see you when you get there and took off.

Riding alone to Huron were I meet up w/the guys. Enclosed trailer, weight over axle, check hitch weight, adjust air in system... It will be ok.

You may want to go with the on board compressor ....pricey , but nice!!!

This Trailer thing is very interesting. My buddy has a trailer for his Roadstar and pulls two Kyaks Coast to Coast. I am not sure about the trailer thing, but it looks fun.

My trailer is the first of anything I have pulled behind a bike..speaking for BushTec...if you did look back there, you would not know it was there!!!!

Diet Coke put in the trailer to show capacity ...27 cubic feet...bigger than some trunks in cars....
