By 3 PM tomorrow, AZ time, I'll be turning 10K on my way home from work. I would have had it two weeks ago but I got a flat and the "work, and family things" got in the way. So far so good its, an awesome bike with only the paint issue is bringing me down.

So whos close? I'm I the first 10K mile F6B?

Using Dragon Speech, as I ride ( ha ha ha ha ha), I am not quite at 10k yet. I will be by the last day of this month though. Bought the bike on April 6th.

Then, after this month, I still have rides from Seattle to Galena, IL., and back, and then from Seattle to Deming, NM, then to Winnipeg, Manitoba, and back home. This year I should end the year with about 30k on the F6B. Good thing I have 11 other bikes, so I don't wear this bike out too fast.

Only 2500 for me, but with working 60 hr/wk and living in CT, that's not too bad.

I envy Miles. I must say I'm a little imtimidated with the thought of very long trips.
I'm just a "Touring Rookie". My Idea long ride will be about 8hrs and 400 miles to Bar Harbor Maine this summer. I saw the thread about the Smokey Mountains and the beautiful riding in NC. Possibly this fall or next year I'd like to try that.

We'll see how things turn out. I had a bike with tons of chrome that would require hours of polishing after running through a single puddle so weather and multiple day rides were a pain in the butt. With this bike, I think if I dress correctly, the weather wont' deter me from enjoying the adventure. I'm also ant-chrome now. All Black No Chrome is the goal for me:icon_lol:.

I picked up my bike 1st of May and only have a little over 2100 miles so far. It is the best bike I've ever owned. I've had 1500 Wings and before the F6B I rode Valkyries. I was waiting for a 1800 Valkyrie, but when I saw the F6B I had to have one. This site is a great tool for ideas and sharing information. I have made keys for the bags and glove box with tips from here. Also modified the passenger backrest (taller and better angle), and learned how to change the windshield. The Valkyriders.com site is the greatest site for info on Valkyries and I am hoping this site will continue to grow and contain as much info about the F6B.

I have a long way to go to get to 10K. I'll likely have it by the end of September though.

Has anyone else noticed that they worry about too many miles on their cars/trucks but when it comes to a bike - the more miles the better?? That sums up my personality.

After riding a Road King for 13 years, going cross-country on this F6B is "hands down" smoother which allows one to travel farther.

Sweet, thats awesome I wish I had more time to be able to do a trip like that. But thats not in the cards at this point, work is super busy and I need the hours right now.

It wasn't as bad as it looks, it was 116* on I-10 on the way home that day. The worst part was the area between the top of the boot and bottom of my work pants, when I sit in the F6B my pant leg comes up just enough. That was freaking hot. But the rest wasn't bad, I ride in long sleeves, gloves, my work boots, and a full face helmet. Keeping exposed skin out of the afternoon sun makes all the difference.

One question ........ TIRES, how are the Bridgestones holding up ? Will you continue with OEM when it comes time to replace?

SpeedyWho
06-13-2013, 12:10 PM
The tires seem fine so far, no cupping or anything. The rear is a little squared off from riding upright so much, my commute is boring and thats 60% of my miles. I got a nail in the rear tire about 700 miles ago, it's plugged and holding air just fine. I'll stay with mc tires in rear OEMs most likely.

That's some great mileage, I'm jealous! I do 60-80 miles a day during the week and more on weekends. I'll be there before I know it. So how many services have you done and at what intervals? Any major maintenance? SpeedyWho, especially you cuz we both live in the severe heat, what intervals and oil/filter are you using?

Thanks Miles.

I bought the bike locally but it was originally purchased in Sacramento and had a Rick Mayer seat put on it. It was a good bike but I was always leery of major component failure and expensive repairs, from what I read on the forums. It now has a home in Twin Falls Idaho.

So, Dale, tell us, what air filter and spark plugs are you going to install ?????

I already had Tyler install a new K&N air filter in mine, while you were off playing in Florida. And the NGK Iridium spark plugs are sitting on my shelf in my shop, just waiting for the bike to come home. Of course, now that I have "zero" miles on the bike, it may be awhile before I have to do anything to it.

i will put stock plugs and air cleaner in it, there is no need for me to install after market parts. by the way there is something fishy about your zero mileage bike???? you must have installed used tires on it to give it that used, well wore look??? there goes your trade in value. dale

Yes, I know. It is VIN # DK001917. I looked it over about 5 weeks ago. But Dale says he won't give me trade-in value on my bike with zero miles on it.
