What size hole?

What size hole do I need to drill to fit the cigarette lighter accessory in the little glove box? I purchased the OEM one but there are no directions. Thanks

The hole size is 30mm.

If you don't have access to a 30mm bit, I've heard a 1 1/4" will also get the job done. I also have an OEM kit sitting in the garage just waiting for daytime temps to drop below 110 degrees. Got a few things left to install but not in this heat.

I just did it, it was 1 and 1/8 inch.

1 1/8" = 28.575mm so, if the correct size is 30mm, that might just do the trick. For cutting smooth holes and especially larger holes, I much prefer using step drills. You can get a set for cheap at Harbor Freight. The only thing you have to watch out for with those is going a step too far and winding up with a larger hole than intended. No reason to run into that issue as long as you're paying attention.

note that the hole for the aftermarket part (not the HONDA one) is smaller, only 7/8"

I used a Bosch 1 1/8" spade bit and it was hairy out of control because of the threaded tip. Don't use that type. If I was to do it again I would use a hole saw or step bit. Much easier to control.

Bought my first set of step bits for this type of mod. El cheapo harbor freight versions, but just too darn easy to drill, size, drill, side, etc,,

Unclear why folks drop $$$ on the OEM sets. Aftermarket/custom are a fraction of the cost and, in many instances, can handle more juice than the OEM set up.

I dropped ~$20~ on a 15 Amp socket w/ 60" lead, fused, that I ran straight to the battery. Even with the step bit's, it's less than half or what they want for an OEM F6B socket,,, and Mo' juice ta boot!!! Plus, the 5A 'plug and play' OEM socket feed plug is still available for,,, whatever might be next!!! :icon_twisted:

Can't speak for others, but I got $1000 in Honda accessories with the purchase of my F6B covered by Honda. In other words, free. Can't beat that price. :icon_biggrin:

Zeus now that you know what size to drill, if you look closely on the cubby once the cubby is out, you'll also notice the starting mark + for your drill.

It was part of the choices I made to spend the $1000 free accessories. My total came to $70 over, but the dealer squashed that. :clap2:
