Could I ask the favour of someone measuring the width of their F6B with the mirrors collapsed.

I am back at my home on the east coast and my bike is up in Ontario. I have measured the door to my shop which is 39 inches....

I believe I measured the F6B mirror to mirror un-collapsed at 44 inches...it may have been 42....oops

Big job to widen the door as it is now concrete to concrete.....I am hoping the mirrors collapse enough to get it down around 39 inches....but something tells me this won't be the case.

This is what one might call a dilemma.....

Thanks in advance

Maybe this will help a little...the dimension with mirrors NOT folded in is approximately 43 1/2"

I'm measuring about 38 1/2" on mine.

Based on that measure I don't have to buy a new house, new bike or cut concrete and fab a new door for the shop.

Maybe just get a big old pair of socks to pull over the mirrors when exiting and entering. I could even make that a once a season event if it is really tight as I have storage in a 12 x 16 shed out back that would be good for thee riding months....May through October.

Thanks much,

tink

Just rent a chipper hammer and notch out the area the mirrors would fit through.:icon_doh::cheers:

True story,
Many, many years ago(1976) I cut a kitchen wall out with a chainsaw:yikes: so I could get a VW trike out that I had custom built in the kitchen, 1835 motor with a root blower, it was scary bad. I brought all the parts in one piece at a time, even painted it in one of my bedrooms(indoor paint booth).
When it came time to ride.... I just cut the wall wide enough and high enough to roll the trike out, then with the help of a few bros we set the wall back in place, nailed it down, taped the seams, mudded everything up and painted it. You could never tell we did it and the landlord never knew...or as far as I know he did not know as I moved with in a week of getting the trike running.
Ah, the things we do in the exuberance of youth:301:7552

Havent put a tape on it.But mine stays in a shed with a 48" door and I wouldn't want a finger between the mirros and the edge going in n out.

According to this site http://www.goldwingworld.com/pages/specgl1800.htm a GL1800 is 37.2" wide, but I don't know where they are taking their measurements, I suspect the engine which is not the widest point of a Goldwing or F6B. They do not list the width of an F6B in their spec on it http://www.goldwingworld.com/pages/f6b-feature.htm
