Anyone else bothered by the "turtle" shape of the smuggler rear seat replacement compartment? I love the concept and would get one except I just can't get past how it effects the lines of the F6B. I realize it would impact capacity, but I'd love something more like the stock rear seat or the Mustang seat shape which I think continues the lines perfectly. Or if you went old Ford Mustang Fastback with it and started the form clear to the tail end, I think you'd come close to the capacity -- maybe continue it on up a little more rather than curving it back down. Also, I really hate losing the grab rails for use with the center stand and again, because they help give the F6B it's beautiful lines. My new Clearview windshield was clearly designed with line integrity in mind. Not only does it function, but it doesn't violate the form. In fact, it could be said to enhance it with it's slightly bowed top. The flatly chopped look on the stock shield seemed kind of abrupt to me.

Have you seen it in person? Is this your review? or are you just bitchin/knocking a product without actually putting your hands on it?

I have a NEW Corbin Smugler seat in my pocession that will be auctioned off in the coming days, and after having seen it in person, it looks bad-ass in my opinion.

Just seen it in pictures. You're saying Corbin's own pictures misrepresent it?

Not only am I not bothered by it, I like it. I think it enhances the lines of the bike. I may opt for it down the road.

To each their own.

Let's ride and appreciate all the great things available for our bikes. Buy the stuff you like and don't buy the stuff you don't.

I agree on the lines of the smugler, I think it looks great. I did notice in some of the photos there appears to be a large-ish gap between the front seat and the trunk itself which struck me as possibly odd, but without seeing one in person on a bike who knows.

Nope, I'm sure you have heard the statement for other things …. " Pictures don't do it justice "

Such is the case on this product, …. pictures don't do it Justice. You need to see it in person, it is very nice.

The pics I saw here of the members bikes who have 'em didn't look bad,,, kind of a 'neutral' opinion on appearance, I guess.

It kinda gives the 6 a 'sittin down in it' look to the bike.

With that being said, the cost/reward factor just isn't going to work for me,,,

I also like it and don't have it. I'm also yet to see it in person, only in pictures here on this forum. I don't have it due to price, but now if one is available at the rally I will definitely bid on it, who knows. I do have a Mustang and like it, too, but it's sure nice to have that small trunk.

There were posts before about the lack of rails and how someone is able to put it on centerstand with the Corbin trunk on it.

I think it looks very sporty and is very well designed:

Someone's ride from this forum. I understand why you didn't like it when you saw it - it must have been the slow riding red F6B! It looks great on the black one...

Well dammit!!! There are 2 reputations at stake here!!!

Mine, always attempting humor,, (and ~occasionally~ succeeding )

And the OP's,,,

All I can say is,,, It's gonna take a couple looooooooong rides before he can shake the 'regret' of that 'Indian' thing he stirred up in here a while back!

There's a lot of pics on Corbin's site.

I never considered how it would effect the use of the center stand.

For the 2-3 times a year the center stand has some actual value, use a jack-lift. None of us seemed to think not having constant use of a center stand was a factor when we rode Harleys...

I put my bike on the center stand every time I put it away at night. So even though I like the look of the Corbin seat I don't think I will buy one.

Ours are always on C-stands when they set between rides.

I believe MSGT came up with a 'short rope' method with her Corbin-equipped 6. Involves running a short rope to the LHS saddlebag guard to use in lieu of the grab rail when setting the bike on the C stand.

Haven't seen it, but assume there is a 'soft' hook and handle involved,,, or just loop it down through / back up again,,,

Corbin makes a top quality product, you just have to know if it fits your butt or not. Just like any other seat. I had one on a 94 R1100RS that totally changed the comfort level of that bike to the point that high mileage days became the norm. I like their looks. I like the smuggler look of the F6B offering.

I like the concept and only ride alone so it would work for me but I really would miss the hand rails for puttin the beast on the center stand which I do when she is put away for the night.Bottom line is if ya don't like it don't buy it.

I use my center stand daily. Wouldn't stop me from getting the seat though if I wanted a solo seat.

1. The Smuggler's lines are dictated by the lines of the bike, thus the "turtle" look.
2. No passenger grab handles because there is no passenger seat.
3. The trunk comes off and can be replaced with a passenger seat (and you can put your handles back on).
4. My husband made a short length of soft nylon rope attached to a thin handle at either end; loop it through the crash bar and you have a handle with which to center stand it.
5. If you don't like the Smuggler, Corbin also makes a Gunfighter seat that is a monolithic two-up version.
6. No, I don't center stand it myself, I let my husband do that.

Here's the monolithic Gunfighter seat, showing the two different backrests available:

Maybe for you and the get-along gang.... but I use mine daily.:icon_razz:

FWIW to contribute to the thread the smuggler would be the only option I would consider, but as it is now the stock seat is fantastic!

I'm definitely not bothered by it and actually feel that is goes perfectly with the lines of the bike. Looks like it came from the factory to me. Just goes to show how differently we all see things.

Never really paid a lot of attention to it, but Corbin makes LOTS of Smugglers for all different kinds of bikes:

http://www.corbin.com/searchresult.shtml?q=smuggler%20seats

I guess I never really knew about 'smugglers' till folks here on the board got 'em.

This one really perks up the Trumph: http://www.corbin.com/triumph/bonnevillesmuggler.shtml

Kinda gives it a whole new 'tude...

Given then 'not as big as they look' saddlebag capacity of the Vision, this might come in handy:
