View Full Version : Whats boots are your favorite for riding the F6B?

Coming off Harley's I have found that my big bulky motorcycle boots aren't the greatest for riding the F6B. The clearance between the shifter and the foot peg doesn't get along well with big clunky motorcycle boots so I've been wearing my tactical/military boots when riding the F6. My favorites so far for summer riding are my Oakley SI Assault Desert Boot. Good traction, light weight and easy to get under the F6Bs shifter..batman-smilie.

Just wondering what boots are you favorite for riding the F6B and why?

I wear Bates Durashocks. Very comfortable, good ankle support, and a sole that's not too bulky. Breaking in my second pair now.

Alpinestars Web gore-tex. Extremely comfortable and light. Easy to get under/over the shift knob.

I stated wearing bates enforcers, I agree they are great and not so bulky.
(My department buys me a pair every year, which is cool too).

In the past I've always worn Black Leather, Lace up, steel Toe, paratrooper look, waterproof, wildland fire fighting boots.
They just are too big to comfortably get in around the f6b's shifter.

But the bates are not waterproof or water resistant, not even close.

considered buying a true road riding boot..

Boots, ahh, I wish I could fit into those cool Italian Cruel Boots but alas, I can't find anything that fits my 3xE foot except maybe a yeti footprint. I did find a set of Clarks mid height work boots, super comfortable on/off the bike, that were well priced and in mandatory black of course. I've been very happy since.

I'd like to know who the heck is designing motorcycle gear. Most stuff, including boots, is ridiculous looking... boy-racer type stuff.

And what's the fascination with the color black for everything? Black is my favorite color for vehicles and garments, but c'mon, 90 degrees on a bike in black gear is not a good combo.

I'm leaning more towards the tactical police gear than dedicated motorcycle stuff.

Double-H Road Warrior 10" Harness boot. I wear them all the time, not just riding. Very comfirtable. Heel locks into the pegs to help relax.

No problem with the shifter, in fact I almost never miss shifts when I wear these. On occasion I wear low profile shoes (Vans) when doing a test ride around the block, I miss shifts like crazy.

Sidi On Road GoreTex. 110 degrees to 26 degrees. Rain, snow, sleet, sand, grasshoppers the size of small birds. 900 mile days. Excellent soles. Fantastic motorcycle boots.

I'm not yet on an F6B - hoping for one in the spring - but I've been wearing a pair of Sidi On Road boots for more than 10 years, and I'm getting ready to buy a new pair over the winter. Crash tested them in the summer of 2007, and my feet and ankles came through fine. Boots were beaten up, but still waterproof. Velcro is just this season starting to separate, but otherwise still perfectly wearable.

They are expensive, but definitely worth it.

I found the best boots for me at a truck stop in Iowa on I-80...Truckers like comfortable boots that are not big and bulky..I think mine are just plain old cowboy boots..Anyhow they have a small narrow toe, light weight, and good ankle coverage....I agree most of the boots available for bikers look "funky" to me and most are designed for the sport bike crowd....

Currently wearing a pair of Tourmaster Solution 2 boots which work well for shifting http://www.tourmaster.com/xcart/product.php?productid=350&cat=7. Would like a pair of Sidi Canyon boots but unsure if they will fit under the shifter and don't want to spend the big bucks to find out.

I live in Texas, we are legally required to wear cowboy boots here.

I picked up a pair of these Ariat's at the Houston Rodeo in January and they are the most comfortable boots I've owned. Also, the soles are fantastic on asphalt. As well, I can wear them to work and they look good (pant legs cover the uppers, of course) when I polish/brush them every now and then -- despite being "work boots".

I'm kind of surprised to hear all the Bates boots cited are working for folks as the toe still looks pretty large to me. Maybe not as large as the ones I'm coming from though. Bates Men's Talimena Motorcycle Boot,Black,10 M US https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006H1XDSM/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_FB0.tb1W1DQQN

Redwing Engineers were my go to for years and years and I may yet go back to them. I tried true, old school cowboy boots (Tony Lama Black Label) and the heel was just to deep for me. I like being able to move my feet around some and thus the appeal of floor boards too. I have a pair of Sidi half height, perforated boots, but they are obviously limited for touring style riding and besides are pretty darn narrow for my decidely normal American width feet.

What I'm thinking of trying next are http://gasolinaboots.com/classic_boots.html But then, I'm quite the traditionalist at heart. Even though I now ride a rocket ship as a motorcycle, I haven't quite yet made the mental transition to astronaut boots while riding.

Bates, extra wide with side zipper. Never polish them so the leather turns a very light color. Keeps my feet cooler on the many 100+ deg days in Dallas.

I wear Bates Escalante riding boots. Love em. You can find them on Amazon and I'm sure a million other places. I'd post a link but not sure if that's allowed. Anyway, black boots, inside zippers with flap, waterproof (as much as something with a zipper can be), and crazy comfortable.

I wear a pair of Alpinestars CR-4 Goretex, they are my everyday boot too because I am too lazy to change when I get to work. They are comfy and have held up just fine for the 10 months I have had them. So I end up getting Red Wing boots and they don't get hot and are fairly water resistant.

I've been using an old pair of ICON chukka biker boots that I also used on and off for about ten years on my VTX1300C.
No problem at all with shifting the F6B. In fact, it was a bit tougher to get my toe under the shifter on the VTX (I adjusted the shifter on that a bit, shortly after I purchased it).
I also have a basic pair of Stanley steel toe that I often used on the VTX, but haven't bothered to use them with the F6B yet.

I used the kuryakan dropped mini boards and did a little grinding on the lower right frame area and moved the shifter up a spline...if you pull it apart you will see where it hits and you will just need to massage it with a grinder. very easy and much more room for your boot under the shifter. works perfectly now

It's the Gore-tex Cresta Hiker that I'm sold on. In either all leather or fabric/leather. Have ridden in torrential downpours in both and feet remain warm and dry and cozy. Once I get to a rally, I walk as much as I ride - these boots are awesome. Perfect fit right from the box, cool in the hot weather, warm in the cold and totally comfortable. They're sold as hiking boots, but they're the best riding boots I've ever worn! Handsome too!

Danner Acadia 21210. Great Gore-Tex water proof boot Have two sets and use the older pair with the worn down Vibram sole as it doesn't interfere with shifting as much as the newer pair with the fresh Vibram lugs.

Hey Guys
don't know if you can get these in the US , but these are the most comfortable M/Cycle boots I've ever worn .
I have been buying the same style boot for the last 30 years, would not buy any other brand of boot, wide fitting great boot you can wear all day, run in them if you have to.

look up rossiboots.com.au the style I wear is P134
( I have no affiliation with this company, just love there boots.)

Tony - thanks for the memory jogger! I could not remember the name Rossi.
I had RM Williams boots and they died after 13 years.
One of the Aussie officers told me he always got Rossi (the poor mans RMW). I had forgotten the name!

For those with narrow feet (12 aaa here) Redwing makes a couple of comfortable, un-insulated lace up boots labeled "narrow" which feels roughly equivalent to an "a" rating.

I wear a size 14, so it's pretty hard for me to find boots. :icon_frown:

And even if I do, it's harder still to fit the toe under the shifter.

So I usually just get a pair of Nike leather basketball high tops, or light hiking boots, as long as they cover the ankle.

And my Kury heel-toe shifter makes shifting a whole lot easier... :icon_biggrin:

Machinist here, I wear White's Smoke Jumpers, size 13d, a bit tight at the shifter. I just installed Kury pegs, which sit back and lower than stock to make more room. I haven't tested them out much yet. The cramped lower quaters on the Honda are the one thing I cant love about it.

SIDI Gore-Tex for me as well . It may have been mentioned already but we have to be somewhat careful, with our bike, to have boots that are not too thick in the toe area. Otherwise, shifting can be more difficult. That's one of the main reasons I go with SIDI.

In case there are any other ladies reading the thread, here's what I got:

http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/tcx-womens-x-street-waterproof-shoes

I've only had them a few months, and have yet to see how they do with the 110F Texas summer asphalt. However, They're VERY comfortable, and since I ride to work every day, I don't have to change shoes when I get off the bike. I've never been one to pay a lot for shoes (more money for bike accessories!) but these are worth every penny, and I'm considering buying another pair just to have on hand if/when these wear out. I've tried a number of cow(girl) boots, motorcycle boots, etc etc. These are by far the best I've tried.
