I had never been on this ferry with anything but a car, and then only one time, and then over 30 years ago. So it was a very interesting day yesterday with a friend and I riding over the Ortega Highway (74) in Southern California, and taking the bikes over to Newport Beach and Balboa Island. Nothing to do but we "must" take the three minute ferry ride out to Balboa Island and the Pier for lunch. $1.50 for the fare, and a tricky getting off moment up the ramps, but this was definitely a first for the rosy lassie.

Here's the Red Queen wondering if she will float... i don't think she approves.

That's not a ferry ... this is a ferry (Headed to Seattle) The first time I went on the Balboa Island Ferry it cost 10 cents! (I'm old) The Island is a great place to visit (try the frozen bananas) but BOY is it crowded.

I've been from Cape May, NJ to Delaware and Hatteras NC over to Ocracoke NC, never strapped bike down. They did tell me to stay close to it one time, it was a little rough out

Something about "riding a ferry" just don't sound right. Maybe just me?
