Here is why I always wear a helmet. Stupid accident with pothole and curb. Only doing about 25-30mph. Over $10k damage to the bike. Fractured knee and possible ACL tear. Bike is all repaired and just have to pay my deductible. First accident in over 17 years.

Progressive insurance as treated me very well.

As i have progressive also; I'm glad they work out for you, i have then for 8 years now and not claim yet,and I hope i never have to do one, but I'm more then happy to hear they taking care customers.
Pot holes , there is a street by my friends house where we group all the time to go riding the we painted around them with glow in the dark spray, because they so many and the town does not seem to care, is really dark on his street and even we know where most of then are we always ride with new people and someone always seem to hit them . now at least we can see them a night.

Hope you get well and back on the saddle soon!!!'riding''riding''riding'

Sad deal for sure. I had a similar get down in Abilene, TX in 1998. Left the dealership with a new wing after a warranty service, made about two blocks and hydroplaned in a dip. I wasn't hurt physically, but the motorcycle had about the same damage as yours. Accidents tend to rule you mind for awhile ! I acquired a new respect for wet pavement !

AYE CARRUMBA!!!

Pothole and curb,,,,

Neither one is good news, but a combination of those 2 would be 'mighty-unpleasant'

Glad you are still with us and on the mend,,,

As of right now I plan on continue to ride with more caution. I will get the bike back this week and doubt I will be able to ride until next Spring which is fine.

Welcome to the club.

D/S, I guess you are glad you had on some gear, huh? What did it do to your arm? Any other injuries, and what speed?

55 mph, 130 lb mule deer, chip in wrist and left ankle. RASH TATOOS. Pads will move. I recommend the tightest pads one can stand. 9100910191029103 Note Deer/Motorcycle wrecks attract strong women.

Dang, hope you recover soon!
Gotta get back on the horse though.
Spring is early enough.
You will still have a heightened sense about riding.
Reading things like this wakes us all up.
Glad you are still around to tell us about it.
