That's correct We are 15 hours in front , so 9.30 am,Australian time, will be 6.30 pm the evening before, for you.

To confuse matters, unless Australia participates in daylight savings like us brilliant Americans... the difference will be 15 hours for 6 months of the year, and 14 hours for the other.

Use this here Dave: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/

It's even more confusing than that. Aus does have Daylight Savings time, but they switch on different dates to the US, and right now Aus has switched to summer time, but the US is still on summer time and won't switch back for a few more weeks. So, although Melbourne (and Sydney) are 15 hours ahead this week, two weeks ago they were only 14 hours, and in a few more weeks, they will be 16 hours ahead. Confused yet :-)

Just to make it harder, you need to remember that not all states in Australia have daylight saving (Queensland doesn't) then you have to factor in the 3 different time zones across Australia. East coast ( Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania ), Central ( South Australia and Northern Territory ) and West ( Western Australia ). :icon_mrgreen:

A very quick rule of thumb would be to change the time from a.m to p.m. (or vice versa....backwards) to find your time in Maryland. That way if you're on the phone you can organise something a bit better than e.g. 3am in the morning.

e.g. 9am Melbourne = 9pm Maryland the day before. (Roughly)

Then go to one of the many 'Time converters' for the exact conversion. Remembering that our winter is your summer and Daylight Saving Time is in our warmer months of October to April.....which is your winter....but I spose you know that. :-)
