Hey, I'm thinking of trying ride year round for the first time since... oh, 1976 or so. Mind you, still only on nice days, but weather has a way of turning suddenly and quickly around here. Anyone change out to something of a "snow tire" for winter riding? I was looking at my son's 1980 GS750 the other day and it's almost knobby period correct tires compared to our almost treadless ones got me thinking. Also, going back to that guy with all the gravel problems, I wonder if they'd help that way too. Yes, I know you'd be greatly impacting ride and performance. So I'm not thinking of them as a year round thing... unless that gravel thing panned out super well. :yikes:

Instead of different tires, do what I did and just add an extra tire.
With three you don't fall over.

Hey that Michelin Primacy Alpin ZP 195/55-16 is rated as a snow tire. Alpin for Alpine designates it as such. you're not gonna ride in accumulating snow cause the B is too heavy. That front end is gonna push badly.

They are ok in a little bit of snow with stock tires:

You mean that stuff, oh yeah I remember... Great day as few miles later we passed by a skifield as the sun came out and, despite been early spring, people were still enjoying the snow.

Already got some snow on the hill tops :icon_frown: I'm praying to the great God of motorcycling to let me have just one more ride before I have to put my baby away for the long winter :icon_wink:

Hi Paul. With your trike you should be able to run any tyre even with ice studs. With extra wheels one could change back and forth? Good luck.

As Madmax says it's the salt that's the problem. I have a friend who works on the gritters and he reports for duty on Monday! Once that stuff goes down you can forget it. One reason for me parting with my Rune, so much chrome and salt with everything doesn't go :nono:

Never thought about the mag-chloride used in our neck of the woods in place of salt! I think there go my plans...

or could get a KLR 650 or some dual sport for the winter.

Winters are generally pretty mild here, so we try to ride all year every month there are a few days we can get the bikes out. I've already been wearing my electric gear every morning this week into work.

Not to mention the sand Injun Joe. The bain of springtime rides in the mountains. I'll ride in any weather but snow....
