Clear your head, visualize and enjoy the read.

LAST RIDE?

I swing a leg over,
my trusty steel horse.
I settle into the saddle
and point her head north.

A month on the road
and no schedule for me.
I'm riding where I want
and I'm seeing what I want to see.

A curvy road through the pine trees,
only two lanes wide.
Leaning the bike back an forth,
the feelings hard to describe.

A twist of the throttle
and over the next hill.
I'm laughing out loud,
like a child I'm thrilled.

Down through the valley,
with turns left and right,
still laughing out loud,
I must be a sight.

Braking hard for the next corner,
I'm going way too fast,
lean hard through the apex,
then give it the gas.

Out of the corner,
still laughing out loud,
if you could have seen that one,
you would have been proud.

Sparks fly from the foot peg,
as it drags through the next turn.
Still laughing out loud,
I'm not really concerned.

Just passed a sign,
scenic overlook quarter mile.
Think I'll make that stop
and rest for awhile.

I stand at the edge
and I just have to laugh.
I think to myself,
why the hell are you riding so fast?

The answer comes,
as I mount up again.
The soft sweet voice,
of my soul mate and best friend.

I'M HERE!
I'm here by your side.
I may be in heaven,
but I'm with you when you ride.

Don't be in a hurry to join me,
says this soft voice in my ear.
You must live your life and love again,
you know I'll always be near.

I look up at the sky and yell,
I LOVE YOU!
As I put the bike in gear.
I ride away slowly,
thinking,
God I wish you were here.

Thanks Westernbiker, that is very fitting as I just rode my F6B back from the cemetery, visiting my wife who left us this past Christmas Day. I bought the bike because I too have to get away and ride for my own sanity.....
