J&M CFBR-GL1800 Bluetooth Integration Kit

In case anyone is interested, I'm posting my own experience with the J&M CFBR-GL1800 Bluetooth Cell/Smart-phone/GPS/Radar Integration Kit. I know that's a mouthful but in essence, this is a device that adds Bluetooth functionality to the OEM radio system as well as providing for connection and control of multiple devices. With this device, you can pair to a Cell/Smart phone, a Bluetooth-enabled GPS, and simultaneously connect via hardwire to a radar detector.

In my particular installation, I connected a Samsung Galaxy S4, a Garmin Zumo 665 (with built-in XM radio), and an Escort Passport 9500ix radar detector. With some technical support help from John Lazzeroni @ J&M (excellent support :yes:), I got this system set up and running to my total satisfaction. So, what can I do with this system? Well...I can be going down the road navigating with my GPS and listening to XM radio thru my J&M helmet headset. The GPS briefly interrupts my satellite radio for navigational information. Incoming phone calls also interrupt the music and I can take calls as I travel. On top of that, radar detector warnings interrupt whatever else is going on.

All this seems to work very well but be advised there are various methods of connection. For my particular setup, and based on John's great advice (he has this on his own Goldwing as well), I disabled Bluetooth on the Zumo and hardwired that directly to the bike's aux input. The Galaxy S4 was paired via Bluetooth to the CFBR-GL1800. The Passport radar detector was connected via hardwire using the optional cable that J&M offers (plug & play on that). I got lucky when another forum member was selling a used one that came on a bike he just bought and sold it to me for about half price. Based on that deal, I decided to take a chance and like I said, I have been quite satisfied with the results :yes:

I like everything playing through the fairing speakers, so I will be trying the Mpow® Streambot 2-In-1 Wireless Bluetooth Audio Music Streaming Switchable Receiver and Transmitter With 3.5mm Stereo Output. $27.99 on Amazon. Will connect Garmin, and play music using Garmin. Later might also connect to Android phone via Bluetooth. Will report back after Christmas.

Definitely, let us know how that works out. The way I have the J&M system connected, I have the choice of listening thru the fairing speakers or thru my helmet speakers. What I like about the J&M system is that it can handle GPS/XM radio, phone, and radar detector right out of the box. If the system you're referring is capable of something similar and you can buy that for $27.99, that's quite a nice find :clap2:.
