View Full Version : What did you pay for your F6B or F6BD?

Hello,

I am about to buy an F6B and would like to know how much I should expect pay.
What did you pay for your F6B or F6BD?
Is it worth it to buy the deluxe?
What are the differences between 2013 and 2014? Are there any? Should I expect to pay more for a 2014?
I do not see very many 2014 F6B's / did the 2013 F6B's not sell well? and now they have a lot of left over bikes to sell?

Background on me (I am obsessed with motorcyles / all I think about and talk about)
I just was in an accident and my baby is dead - 2010 Harley Davidson Fatboy (Man I loved that bike)
I never thought I would buy a bike that was not a Harley Davidson Fatboy.
I still have my 1981 Honda CB750K that I bought new in 1983. (great bike)
I owned a new 2007 Honda CB900 (hornet) for 6 months. It was great but after 30 mins it was uncomfortable. I sold it for what I paid for it and bought the HD Fatboy.

When I started looking a few months ago after my bike wreck, I thought maybe I would get a Yamaha FJR1300.
The Harley was getting too hot for the summer sitting with my nuts on the oil tank and cylinder head.
I test rode the Yamaha 2014 FJR1300, 2013 Honda Valkarie, and the Honda F6B back to back.

I thought the Yamaha FJR1300 was very nice but I still thought that it would be uncomfortable for everyday use. It was too ski-dish with the power delivery.

I thought that I would like the Valkarie the best but I wanted all the extras the F6B had to offer. I rode the Valkarie and it was OK but looking back after riding the F6B it did not seem as powerful as the F6B.

I then rode the F6B and was in love from the start. It is an incredible bike, great power, great handling, and the most comfortable bike I have ever ridden by far. The wind protection is fantastic (I had the test on a F6B with the Honda 19" vented windshield) I could wear my helmet with the shield up and it did not bother my contact lenses at over 100 MPH. (I hope it does not prove to be too hot in the summer) I have read that the stereo can't be heard over 30MPH I can testify that I could hear it at 100MPH. The bottom line is that the Honda F6B is the most fun bike I have ever ridden.

I have test ridden a lot of bikes. I try to go to all the Demo Truck days. There are a few bikes that I thought would be nice such as the Ducati Diavel and the Yamaha V-Max (both of which cost too much - either sales price, gas, and service etc...) I have ridden all the harleys including CVO's and before this the Harley Davidson Fatboy was my favorite bike.

Thank you in advance for any advise you can give me.
Steve

Hold out until the week between Christmas and New Year Day.

Double sales whammy: End of month and end of year.

If there is any time of the year for the sales peeps to be motivated to sell a bike even at a discounted price that would be the time for it to happen.

Don't be afraid to shop by phone and play one dealer against another. It is their job to part you from you money. It's your job to keep as much of your hard earned cash in your pocket as possible.

I have bought many bikes and cars over the years but once I know what I want I get on the phone and deal there.

NEVER end up in that sales office at any dealership. Too much in their favor unless you are comfortable with getting up and walking away if your EXACT terms are not met. Be strong. It's your $$$ not theirs!

Good luck!

Has anyone ever bought a bike from out of state? What is your experience with the advertised prices on cycletrader.com?

Will I have to pay extra fees etc...?

Doing that research thing. Way to go. Exactly what I did.

I had to drive over 300 miles to Maryland to get my 13 Standard at $12,999 before the $1500 in taxes/plate/and other rip charges. NC has a high tax rate anyway. I bought a Standard and in the process of making it a Deluxe--cheaper that way since I really did not the self cancelling signals. I found the Centerstand for $65 shipped, the grips are about $225 and the backrest/luggage rack is still in discussion.

As mentioned there is no changes other than colors in the 13 and 14 models. Honda marketing is a strange animal--they will make a ton of bikes and then mark them down if they don't sell in a few years. Got my VTX 1800 in 08 for about 65% of the price it was in 06. Personally, I think the MSRP of around $20,000 is a bit tall, but when guys can start buying Wings out the door for the $15K neighborhood they move pretty quickly.

I spent hours and hours on Craigslist and Cycle Trader--then started calling dealers. Local guys would not match the lowest price so I had to travel.

It is a great bike, but also figure in a new shield. I don't think anybody has kept the stock windshield. I found this forum to be a gold mine for information. Check out the thread "How low will they go" on the General message board.

There are always going to be the Extra Charges--NC sales tax is quite a bit---and here you also have to pay county property tax, also. You can do the credit app online and if you have a good score there is the .4% loan. I am paying $53 interest on a 36 month loan. Depending on taxes, the OTD price can add $1-2K--- ask the dealer when you are negotiating over the phone. Some dealers offer their OTD price, but then you bring the bike back and pay them when you go to register it. If you are finiancing it, everything will have to be added in before the bike leaves the dealership.

Again I maintain that price is only relative to whether one is happy/satisfied with the deal and dealer they get...Prices vary all over the country from dealer to dealer and regardless what one pays, somebody always claims they got a better deal!!!...Price comparisons are only a guide and many are inaccurate when it comes down to "out-of-pocket" costs...Taxes, prep, incentives, etc. etc. vary all over the land and can be very confusing at times...If you find the bike and dealer your happy with, go for it and don't worry about what others paid as it does not really matter and most others do not really care!!!

I am coming back from deployment and am doing research right now. I have been talking to a couple shops in MD. One shop in VA was still trying to sell a 13 for 19k. They clearly do not want to move that bike. I will probably buy in January when I get home.

I was one of the early buyers. Getting $2000.00 off MSRP at the time was a pretty good deal on my Deluxe. I am amazed at the prices for hold over bikes but am glad I bought when I did. I have enjoyed the first 25,000 miles and will continue to enjoy this fantastic motorcycle for years to come. ✔️

I paid around $15K (plus taxes and fees) for my new leftover 2013 F6B in June 2014. Prices have come down since them on the remaining 2013 leftovers. They are great bargain if you can locate one.

Pete's Cycle in Baltimore and Honda of Rockville both were, but it was their leftovers in stock and they may be gone. Honda of Rockingham, NC has a good supply Henderson NC Powersports says they can order and get what you want, but they are closer to $15.5 out the door.

There is a dealer in Chattanooga, TN that is good and they will match any advertised price.

BTW--- I am not being critical of what anybody paid, nor am I trying to gloat. If it were the bike I wanted when it first came out and I could afford it, then why would I not be happy? To each his own. Happy Trails:039:

I have no patients, I saw it, I bought it.
There are times I shop, but when it comes to things with wheels I am a complete impulse buyer.

Thanks. I'll check those out. I'll be in MD for a bit and also will be driving through NC, so If I see what I like online, I'll stop off on my way home and pick up a bike. :-)

I have demo-ed the Indians-- 3 times! I sooo wanted to be impressed. They are nice bikes, but I learned my lesson with Victory that a dealer network is important when you ride long distance a few times a year and/or need a part that should be on a shelf somewhere. The closest Indian dealer is over 200 miles away-- Vic had 2 within 20 miles each way but they were useless. When you have to ride 80 miles one way to get a tire installed, Honda, Yama, Suz, Kawi and Harley take on a different light.

Is it worth it to buy the deluxe?

IMHO, absolutely yes, for the centre stand (a necessity for any DIY maintenance), heated grips, self cancelling turn signals, and if you ever carry a passenger, they'll appreciate the backrest. You will also have the luggage brackets already installed if you get the Deluxe.

What are the differences between 2013 and 2014?

The only difference I'm aware of is that the '14 and later models have a different heat treatment on the 4th and 5th gears than does the '13.

Should I expect to pay more for a 2014?

It's a year newer than a '13. I would expect so.

Just remember all you guys who got such a smokin' deal that the trade in value will be appropriately lower because of that deal. Harley's keep their value better because dealers don't offer such deep discounts. I traded a 2009 Harley Street Glide plus $3000 for a lightly used 2013 F6B out the door and thought I got a fair deal. It came with ABS, passenger back rest, rear luggage rack and centre stand. I love the bike and don't really care about the price.

I bought a '13 Deluxe in October of '14 for $13,999. I also came off a HD Screamin Eagle Fatboy (FLSTFSE), which I loved. But, like you, have found the F6B to blow the doors off the HD in every way. Better performance, more comfortable, smoother, more economical (especially when you look at the cost of parts/upgrades), I even like the sound (or lack thereof) better!

The wife said "Yes, you can have one but wait 'til spring."
I heard "Yes, you can have one........"

With that said I picked up a new '13 last month. Had a good deal lined up at a dealer in OK (found on Cycle Trader). Went to a local dealer for a test ride before making the journey (the wife insisted). Found a '13 Deluxe that was not advertised, even on their own website. They came within $200 of the OK deal. Couldn't make the 700+ mile round trip for that much, so bought local.
Long story short (too late), dealers will usually match/come close to a legitimate offer elsewhere. Good luck on your hunt.

Can't compete with those US prices but I'm happy with the deal I wrangled outta my local dealer. I see they have a 2013 for sale for a $1000 more than was listed this summer and without the rear backrest and rack that mine came with. ;2cents2;

Been shopping in Colorado. 15,500 plus taxes for a 2013 standard. 16,700 plus taxes for a 2013 deluxe. Seems that this is as low as I can get them.

See people who bought for 12,999! The dealer I told that too kind of chuckled, as in good luck. The dealer also mentioned something about BID bikes? What the heck is that?

Cheers

Consider your self lucky if you can find a local bike for $15/16,000..A good majority of riders on this board paid a lot more than that in 2013/14, but have enjoyed riding the F6B for a while...Price is meaningless as long as the buyer is happy with the deal and dealer they choose....As I posted a while back, for everyone that feels they got the "best deal available", someone else always claims they did better!!...Buy the bike and enjoy ride!!!

I've only dealt with them over the phone. Pick up the bike on 12/26 when I am heading home from NW Iowa. So far, they have been a class act, but all we did was credit app over phone, then called me back to CC a deposit. They have emailed me all the specifics and called me the next day to see if I needed any other information. We'll find out on 12/26.

Make sure they install winter conditions air into your tires, otherwise you may have problems
also have them inspect the muffler belt, tighten if necessary :shhh:
