Thought that it would be helpful for F6B drivers who are looking to purchase a new helmet to know which brands and models/sizes of full face and 3/4 helmets will fit into the onboard saddle bags.

I have a HJC CL-17 full face medium that just fits with a little shove when closing the left side bag.

My saddlebags are full of other things:

Right: rain gear and cold weather gear
Left: tools, hiking guides, binoculars

My helmet hangs - with a provided wire cord - to the helmet lock.

Schuberth Concept, Schuberth C3 Pro, and the AFX FX140 do not fit in the saddlebag.
So far, can't find the part number for the XL saddlebags!

I also have used the provided wire and helmet lock but there are times when it is nice to be able to store the helmet out of the elements or if riding in a state where you are not required to wear a helmet but want to bring it along.

I know that when I was in the market for a new full face helmet I would have appreciated a list of helmets that would work in the bag instead of hoping it would work.

Thanks,
X

Shoei RF1200 LG - not quite....

Yes, it appears that Shoei has four shell sizes in the RF1200 line and the medium and smaller will fit but the large is a larger shell and won't fit. I almost bought a Shoei RF1200 as it is an outstanding helmet.

The HJC CL-17 uses only three shell sizes and the medium and large share the same shell so anyone contemplating buying one of these will probably be fine with a large.

I am guessing that any full face in medium or smaller will probably fit so the large and larger are where there is a question and where it would be nice to hear from others on their onboard helmet storage experience.

I have a XL Scuberth C3 Pro that stows nicely in the left saddlebag. The first time I needed to find the sweet spot that allows the lid to close.

Please post a pic, if you can.....I've been looking for that sweet spot - maybe I'm doing it all wrong.
Prolly should ask my wife.... :icon_mrgreen:

The extra large Bell, for fat heads like me, does not fit.

Does anybody have Ideas for safe storage other than hanging on the side and removing paint?

The Symax is an XL Modular Flip up and I can put it in the right side Bag, but have not tried the left side.

The trick is to set the Helmet on the Saddle Bag lid facing forward and close the Saddle Bag so that the top of the Helmet fits into the square shaped recess in the back wall.

As a kid, my Dad's policy was no riding for a month if he even saw me swing a leg over a bike without a helmet on. I've never been able to shake the habit.

When stopped, I either use the stock helmet lock or carry it inside with me. I always have too much crap in the saddlebags.

All I can say is forget the rubbish ? Had this bit of gear on 4 bikes over 30 years and its just the best. Everyone that's seen it has tried to track one down. I think it may be a BMW job ?
It fits behind the number plate. Takes 2 helmets.
Each helmet lock has a key. The same key for both. The posts pop up through the D Rings on Yah helmet or if you have a Shueberth like me through the adjustment
Its off the old bike ready to go a me new F6B, Woooh Hooooooo :icon_cool:

I wear a lrg or ex-lrg depending on brand, and I have had better luck fitting my plus sized lid in my saddle bag by placing it bottom down on the door of my bag and then closing it (with a small towel in the bottom of my bag to prevent scratching. The helmet ends up on it's side.

Great idea! I'll have to try that. I carry alot of junk in my bags too though.

I've two Nolan helmets with Nolan intercom installed.
They are both size L. One is the flip-face N104 with the B4 set and the other is the new N44 with the B5 set.

They both fit in the middle of either bag. The sweet spot is to tilt the upright helmet sideways such that it's lower side lip is above the ridge that runs obliquely along the back of the bag, (as you look into it). Neither helmet will comfortably fit sitting flat on the floor of the bags.

FYI, The Nolan intercom sets don't stick out very much from the helmet, compared with some others I've seen.

Full Face L Shoei RF1000 doesn't fit but all my half helmets do with no issues. I use the provided cable and lock on the side for both the B and the Valk. You can easily lock 2 helmets up to 1 helmet lock using the cable.
