At the time I was going through my divorce, I was sitting out on my porch haveing a few brews.....well.....maybe more than a few at that time. Anyway, I was thinking about where I had been in my life at that time and as I thought about it, this is what I wrote down. Maybe some of you can relate, enjoy.

BEEN

Been happy as a lark,
been sad as a caged bear.
Been through hippy beads around my neck,
been through the phase of long hair.

Been down in the dumps
and high on the hill.
Been behind home plate,
been out in left field.

Been in some fast cars
and some fast women too.
Been in some bar fights
and trusted people I hardly knew.

Been down the hard road
and learned lessons the hard way.
Been out all night,
with nowhere to stay.

Been totally in love
and shoved to the side.
Been on my knees begging
as I swallowed my pride.

Been asked to leave,
never asked to stay.
I remember all these times,
like they were yesterday.

Funny what sticks in your mind
and touches your soul,
Good times and bad times,
new and old.

Some things I can’t remember,
some things I can’t forget.
I’ve done nothing so terribly wrong
and I have nothing to regret.

Thanks to all who read and responded.

Shooter, it was just a reflection on my life up to that point. Things I went through and had to endure. My divorce was terrible, I would not wish what I went through on my worst enemy.

It was a long time ago and these poems I post are from that time. I'm glad I wrote them and even happier that I kept them. I can read them now and I appreciate how far I have come. :biggthumpup:
