Does anyone know if there is hardware in the F6b to support a reverse? Some people have conjectured that if the drivetrain is a Goldwing drivetrain all that may be missing is a relay and switch. This because Honda has an aversion to creating too many platforms in it's automotive lines. Just curious if anyone has 1st hand knowledge? Thanks

In looking at the exploded internal views of the transmission from the GL1800/F6B common service manual, it looks like the missing reverse gear parts can be added to the F6B transmission.

As you state, the castings of the trans are the same.

However, there is a lot more missing besides just a relay and switch. There are shafts, gears, and altogether more than 2 dozen parts.
I would think the cost of adding the trans internals to the F6B, as well as removing the engine and taking it all apart, would be much higher than buying a GL1800, and converting it to an F6B.

That having been said, I agree. Thanks for the clarification. On to another project! Ride safe!
