Only wish I had the time to ride. I knew about Gold Wings reputation but didn't like the full wing. When my buddy complained that Honda had "messed it up" I took a look at what he was talking about and knew at first look that I would have one.
Gold Wing reliability and styling like they had read my mind.
Before that I was looking for Gold Wings that had had the body messed up so I could chop it.Honda took care of that !!
Time and gas,tire and oil money. All I need is time.

How can he get 30,000 miles out of a rear tire? I have run the E3 on my Valk and best is 12,000. And 50,000 on the front? Best I can get is around 20,000. I have just over 11,000 on my F6B and already need a new rear tire. I do not use the rear brake very much except when REALLY needed. Could it be the acceleration ? I mean, I make the bike go, I don't wuss around with it but I am not drag racing it either. Just don't know how he gets that kind of mileage out of tires. :shrug:

i average 175 miles per day monday thru friday and another 100 over the weekend. It's fun riding. Just got to get over the whole "rain" stigma. People always freak out when they see a bike in the rain. But as long as you ride safe, the rain is a non-issue. Just buy good gear.

I am sure it was checked more then once but only needed that one shim one time.Not really out of the relm as many high mileage 1800 owners have claimed they have checked the valves many times over 200-300K and they have been within specs.My buddy has a 2003 with 230,000 miles and he checked the valves three times in the first 100K and all good so he is just running her until he sees a performance drop which has not happened.He changes the oil and filter every 5K with Amsoil 10/40 full synthetic which is overkill but he likes the 5K intervals.One altenator and rear end/drive shaft replacement and lots of tires,brake pads and other fluid changes like brake,clutch,coolant every two years or so.Hard to break one of these engines.

There is a 1999 Valkyrie in the VRCC that has the same mileage, so the 1500 motor can do it too.
The weak point for it and all Valks was the rear end, meaning the pinyon cup and universal joint.
Lube was the fix.
