While on a very rare occasion I do miss the snow, ( only on the first day) I realize it is hard to pick up and move, I want to move to NC so bad I can taste it...not even sure why I don't but...I will be in shorts and a T-shirt on a 25 mile bicycle ride tomorrow with sun block on !!!!!

Right in back of me, that channel in the first picture is where a swan gouged a path, which took a good 20 minutes.

Now that I'm envious of. Having to use a bike trainer in the basement for 5 months is NOT fun.

Right in back of me

I enjoyed living in NYC about 20 years ago, but the winters are rough.

I also lived in Nyack, Rockland County. Great town on the Hudson River!

11452

I'm sure you know but for those who do not riding to Bear Mountain from the City is much fun.

11453

Use Highway 9W. Also, riding to Seven Lakes Park (Harriman State Park) is awesome, too, as well as riding to West Point.

11454

A couple of years ago I rode from SC to Lake George NY for Americade. Great roads, beautiful places and nice people. I would highly recommend riding to Americade if you haven't yet. It is always the first week of June, so weather is nice.

11455

11456

Maybe these images will help you get through the winter a bit easier...

Les! You have to get out of AC and head up to High Point, New Jersey. Vistas are breathtaking as is the riding. Also great scenes along the Delaware River:icon_biggrin:

Knowing these areas very well from driving the car . Pennsylvania also has so much to offer . Seeing the beauty of all corridor of Appalachian Mountains , sometimes I wish to be on bike instead and "twist again" up there forever . There is only one condition , which all of us now ( on the N-E Coast ) are dreaming of - just a little warmer air . The good news are : Spring time around the corner and soon we will join Kings On The Roads again !

You think the city is bad come up north 2 hours. Lol about 4 1/2 feet of snow on the ground and negative 26 right now. I just had back surgery yesterday and my ass is not even thinking about going outside. More snow tomorrow. :yikes:

You get the prize.
Only about a foot of snow on the ground up here, temp a balmy +14F, light wind, a decent day for a walk.
Or better yet, my garage should approach 32F, so a great day to work on my bike.

Hang in there man! I had back surgery 22 years ago, the wife had back surgery in September and hasn't missed a beat, I had two ruptured discs, she had one. They must have refined the surgery over the years as she hasn't looked back, and is training to run a marathon.

If you're reading this from anywhere in the United States right now, there's a pretty good chance it's cold outside. We're in the middle of a massive freeze that could last until March, the breadth of which NASA's Terra satellite just captured in the remarkable view you see above. See all that territory blanketed in white? That's snow. It's not cloud patterns, or a representation of wind currents, just a bunch of frozen water atop even colder ground. NASA supplemented the photo with some harrowing, record-breaking numbers: BTW the cloud cover in the satellite photo is snow and not just cover.

My garage is heated but I am restricted from entering until I get the staples out of my back. 5lb weight limit until the end of march. Then I should be able to ride by May. Let the wait begin.

I had a piece of a herniated disc cut out in April and then reinjured it and just had surgery this Thursday. I am hoping to make a clean recovery this time. Thanks for the positive vibes

Speaking of conspiracy theories, there's no way in hell Lee Harvey Oswald, using a bolt action rifle, could have gotten off those shots from 6 stories up.
I looked out the window where the book depository was in Dallas, and I don't even think the American Sniper could have made those shots with the rifle Oswald used.
Standing on the grassy knoll, very different story.

The Mannlicher-Carcano was known as the 'Enemies Friend" it was so inaccurate there is no way he pulled those shots off in time and, more importantly, be accurate. The legal definition of a conspiracy is an agreement between two guilty people to commit a crime so if we don't who "they" are then it's just a theory. People like to throw that word around, conspiracy, to discount whatever point you're trying to make.
